Ok this is going to sound like such a "cheap ass redneck questions" but here goes. I need to replace my 69 drum brake hub, that I used to make my front disk brake set up, I am running c6 z06 rotors 14" , but as I posted earlier I had to cut down the dim. of the hub to fit inside the rotor the hubs are now damaged and I hate to use another set of 40 plus years old hubs. Every after market hub seem to be around 300$ a little pricey for my pocket book. So, to my question, what about taking a stock hub and rotor one piece and machining the rotor off and leaving just the hub that would fit into my corvette rotor? Would this be dangerous and weaken the hub? This seems like a good inexpensive solution to my problem or just a good way to my ass killed.

I dont know where I saw that before but I think it was on David Pozzi's site, also they may change the offset a bit because I think the are different thicknesses.

People have been cutting down hub/rotors to make hubs for as long as they've existed, so no worries there. The rotor isn't integral to the structural integrity of the hub, at least not for any of the GM applications I've seen. I think your issue will be finding a hub/rotor with the same flange offset as the GM short-spindle drum hubs you're running now. Any difference in offset will need to be accounted for with your caliper mounting brackets, plus the track width change may then cause tire fitment issues with the body or frame.
