I have a 68 Camaro, and I have the subframe off. There is a lot of rust on the front subframe brackets where the doughnuts sit on the top of them (the brackets near the firewall). They started at .125" thick, and they appear to be at least a 1/3 rusted away in thickness in a small area only near the hole where the doughnut goes through. The rest of the bracket is intact, almost rust free and firmly welded to the subframe. Do you guys think this is a candidate for re-inforcement, or just stop the rust, and go with it? I thought about fabbing a piece of metal to wrap around the top of the bracket and weld to the top of it to reinforce the hole. Any feedback? I can't be the only one with this issue. Car is getting the full on pro-touring treatment with mini tubs, and a rockin old school SB around 550 hp, and will hopefully do at least parking lot slalom events, and some track work.

They're easily made from scrap for not much money.

I would repair it. Just check the stack-up. If you add material to the top, it will change the relationship between the suspension and the subframe.
