Here are the new iForged "Classic" 5-spoke wheels that I received for the hugger 69 Camaro. 18x8 fronts, 18x10 rears (pictured). This is their latest style wheel, and doesn't appear on their online catalog yet. I can't wait to get some tires for them and put them on the car :)

Nice! You going to lower it at the same time?

Probably not until I get the other subframe restored/built. I like building those on the side and just swapping the entire thing out when its done.
I could torch the springs and put some blocks in it temporarily though, haha.

We'll you definately have the right idea. Finding a clean solid car, and then swapping the subframe in/out I assume with the new LS2 & tranny.
I would do that if I started all over again, starting with a basket case makes it that much harder....
Nice job, and can't wait to see the finished product.

Nice! Those are similar, smaller split spoke, to the Budnik Cobalts I have on my car. You will really like those once they are on the car, and the smaller split spoke will really show off the huge rotors and calipers (once they are installed).

Looks an awfly lot like the HRE split 5-spoke design..

I sorta feel they copy HRE (even the logo is simular) but they do make some nice stuff and it is a heck of a lot cheaper than HRE..

I think their quality is as good as HRE or better, plus they don't used the old-fashioned stepped lips like Fikse and HRE.

Well to be fair HRE makes both the stepped and the reverse lip designs :)
I agree about the quality of the iForged stuff but I am always struck with how much they look like HRE's..
Those are gonna look sweet on your vert..

exact same thought i had, but you can take it one step further and say that HRE's version looks mighty like my CCW 505A's which look better than both Iforged and HRE's!!!

are the prices on their website per wheel or for the set? looking at nine balls cars id guess per wheel...

HRE's came out before iForged and CCW, and it was expected that a few companies would take some styling cues from HRE. CCW's are 1-piece cast wheels though, aren't they? HRE and iForged are 3-piece forged wheels. I still like HRE's too, but iForged gave me a better price and not many pro-touring cars have them (yet)

Prices on their site are per wheel. If you call them, tell them Tony @ LS1TECH referred you and they might give you a much better price.
They also sell 2-piece versions of all their wheels, and the prices are much better for those. They look identical.
ccw 1 piece forged, everyone seems to have a version of these wheels know, including forgelines.

Yea, but iForged even uses a logo that looks a lot like HRE..
Anyways.. It is just something that I always think when I see them.. no biggie..
I wish iForged would make ones that look like the HRE wheel the has a 05 Z06 wheel look to it. :yum:
No go mount those bad boys up and snap some pics!!!

Its okay Steve, we now know you are an iForged hater :)
There are some subtle differences of the design on iForged wheels over HRE. I like the more smooth area where the lugs are instead of the recessed ring, and the spokes are also more straight instead of curved inwards, and the area where the rivets are is a little different. My main gripe is the stepped lips that HRE still uses on most of their riveted wheels.

Both are nice, but also slightly different. My DPE wheels on the C6 are similar too, but also have slight differences. The DPE's have rivets all the way around, machined out recesses around the lugs that come from the split spoke lines, and slightly flatter lug area. Quality of these is right up there with the two above as well.

HRE does not have stepped lips on every wheel. it just depends on which you order . last i checked on my HRE's i have and the iforged copy it was only like$800 diference between a wheels tire package . i figured if i am going to spend it might as well get the HRE wheels . and mine dont have stepped lips either!
Tony are you minitubbing or anything . custom length rear or stock ?
what is your goal for this vert? as you probably know i too am building one !
 WOW! Nice wheels! I agree with Tony on the stepped lip issue!

datsbad, I'm not mini-tubbing the car. I had 17x10s on my red 69 and it fit just fine. I'll just roll the fender lips a bit, and its done. Once these cars are lowered, its nearly impossible to tell if they have a 30mm wider tire under them (285 vs 315), most people thought my red car was mini-tubbed. Personally, I'm more interested in the deep dish look, and that could easily be achieved by narrowing the rear axle a bit to decrease the backspacing.
This 'vert will be a nice cruiser more than a dragstrip terror. I want something with 750+ rwhp, perfect street manners, and nice Power Tour comfort. The 4500 mile Power Tour this year in my red car, with no A/C, stiff suspension, and heavy traffic overheating issues, made me learn quite a few lessons :)

sounds good. i would like to see it when you get them on ! also are you using the factory chrome wheel well moulding?
Nine Ball

The red 69 had the moulding, the convertible does not. I'll probably leave it off this time.

Tony, that brings up a question. Did you roll the stainless wheel well trim as well on the red car?

They've still got that old style lip. I'd never buy a set of Fikses for that reason.

No, I used a pair of metal snips and cut a slit in the backside of that trim (on the flat part) about every 2 inches and folded those tabs back. I used a few sheetmetal screws to secure some of the tabs.

Nice wheels Tony...lets get them on the car with some fresh rubber!!
As far as the lips go, I have the soft lips on my Intros and as much as I like the look I found it difficult to find a shop that would mount my tires, they didn't want to try it with a standard machine, and few shops had the needed europian machine (all parts that touch the wheel are non-metalic and mount from the back side). I finally had Tire Factory mount my tires at $20 a pop and had to agree to the 'if they scratch them oh well' deal...yep I was pretty nervous! But all went well!! I think the stepped lip looks more racey and the soft lip looks cleaner...just depends on what you want.
My next set will have the traditional stepped lip for two reasons. First, it is easier to find a standard tire mounting machine...especially at the track, this will help out a lot as I burn threw tires doing track days. Second, the widest I could get the soft lip hoop was 10" and I really wanted at least an 11" wheel as my car is mini-tubbed and I run a 315 tire.

You can get a soft lip up to 14in wide now from Intro.........

I may be mistaken, but the design looks like it was copied from BMW. They were called "M paralles" one piece forged rim.

split 5-spokes aren't a new design by any means. I remember some cast wheels in the 80's that were split 5 spokes. There are only so many designs that can be made and copied I suppose.
