I'm installing the Morris driving lights in my 1969 Camaro and I'm a little confused by their suggested wiring schematic for the turn signals/running lights. They suggest using 2 relays to power the turn signals. The relays are normally closed, thereby providing running lights any time the ignition is on. The conventional turn signal wires (dark blue and light blue) are connected to the control inputs of the two relays, thereby periodically opening the relays briefly when the turn signal is activated.
I don't want to use the turn signals as running lights, so I could just use the normally open relay connection to drive the lights and the lights will normally be off, but will still flash when the turn signals are activated. However, why run a relay at all (if I don't want running lights)? Can't I just use the dark blue and light blue wires to drive the turn signal bulbs? They're not a high current draw, right?

I am having same issue.Did you get a fix that works?Plus on the Dash connection there is one connector that has a purple a white and a black wire that connects to only a purple and a black.

Terry,
You can only have a turn signal or a park light if you do away with the 2 relays.
If you connect the park light and the turn signal wires to the relays all
you will hear is the relay cycling and the light won't flash.

sliphawk,
The reason the white wire on the dash switch is not connected is so the driving lights will only activate with the high beam head lights.
You cant see the amber turn bulb blinking if the 55 watt halogen lights are on, this is for Safety.

Thx, Billy

Sorry Billy, I don't understand your response. In the Morris lights, aren't the parking lights and the turn signals the same light bulb (the yellow one)?

I don't have the circuit diagram in front of me, but based on my recollection all you need to change to make the yellow bulbs normally off, but flash during a turn, is remove the wire that is connected to terminal 87a (NC) of the relay and reconnect it to terminal 87 (NO) of the relay. Use a small screwdriver and push in from the front of the connector to release the connector from terminal 87a. Your now free connector should just slide into terminal 87.
