I have a 73 Camaro and Im having both front tires (225/40/18) hit on bumps such as bridges meeting highway or large dips where the front goes up then falls going down hill. The suspension is 2" drop spindles, upper and lower tubular A arms and coil over shocks. The tire hits the inner fender well where it rounds down and meets the fender you can see the mark when jacked up. Its a quick scrub and then fine until the next dip or bridge:crying: The car sits low and I don't want to change that, im getting ready for a front end alignment as all the suspension is new. Would a negative camber adjustment help?:dunno: Any HELP much appreciated! I want to actually drive the car...not baby it waiting for the next scrub:drive:

Yes, More neg camber will move the top of the tire inward. Try .5 deg negative camber, 5 degrees positive caster. Set toe at 1/8". If you were autocrossing the car I'd increase camber to 1.5 to 2 degrees neg. So if you need to move the top of the tire in more, you can run -1 to -1.5 deg but may see more tire wear.

I had the same problem with my 70 Camaro. I tried adjusting the camber and it still rubbed. A little surgery to the inner fender and fender lip and problem gone.

Wow! Paul I just went through your build and that's one sweet car! And the garage.....that makes me want to start all over again on mine. Here's a couple of pics of my project, getting ready for a 5 speed swap. I think im going to do the inner fender mods as you did as well as some camber adjustments that David posted.

What was the width and length of the piece you made? Were you still able to bolt the inner fender back to the fender in the modified location?

Thanks for the help guys!

Brad

Thanks Brad,
The piece I put in is 18" long by about 5" wide. After I cut, bent, and rewelded the fender, I made the piece to bolt right up to the fender in the modified postion. Then I welded it to the inner fender. It took several tries but finally lined up perfect.
Your car looks great by the way. Good luck with the 5 speed swap.
