      1pc vs 2pc Rotor Design

In the Wilwood vs Baer thread there was some discussion about how 2 piece rotors - that is separate rotor and hat - do not transfer as much heat into the wheel bearings as 1 piece designs. 1 piece are cheaper for obvious reasons so why don't they just cast a "spoked" version? It would reduce the area of the thermal conduction path to the bearings but could still be as strong as the 2 piece version. It would also shed more heat due to the increased surface area exposed to the atmosphere. The only downfall is the "hat" part would have to be replaced along with the rotor when it came time, but I bet it would be cheaper all around anyway.

Also, should I patent this or did I just blow it?

Cadillac CTS-V rotors have the design you're referring to.
