Can't believe I've been working on her as long as I have. Had to take many a break to replenish funds and help family back east, but it looks like I'm finally on the "assembly required" side of the project. It started as a weekend driver thing, but then I got lucky and had a driving experience at Laguna Seca and it completely changed my direction. I also need to thank Mike Maier for his willingness to share info and insight which helped me immensely to select parts and pieces as I moved into a new direction of a steetable autocross coupe and still stay within a realistic budget. The high end tubular front suspension and 4 link 9 inch is way beyond my budget, but I think I've done as good as I can with the money I had.
I started with a 66 coupe bought from the original owner, at a good price, and now I know why. Drove it for a year or two. Eventually dove into the body and discovered the qrtr damage. Ended up replacing the qrtr, trunk, and rear panel over a years period. Completely gutted the car and did all the sheet metal replacement and rust repair. Surprisingly there was very little rust, just allot of sheet metal work. Learned how to weld on this puppy. Strengthened the subframe and added a trac-loc, and SSBC brakes. Had the C4 completely gone through, new clutches, C servo, V/Body, rigid bands, custom built torque converter 2400 stall with 4130 hub. Rebuilt the '68 302, added AFR165, Comp Cams XE268H, Weiand, Canton, and a custom built holley 4150 with all the road course goodies while the car was in paint. The paint finished last week and the interior paint should be done any day. Rear seats are being built as we speak to match the Cerullo's. Have the quick ratio 13:1 steering box. Picking up the panhard and sway bar from Mike as soon as I get the car back from paint. Plan on adding MustangtoFear one piece headliner and 4-pt roll bar. At this point its ASSEMBLY REQUIRED, fingers crossed. I gotta thank all you ladies and gents for your motivation everytime I stopped in this forum.
