View Full Version : My experience with DSE....

Well, I got my car back today. I couldn't sleep last night, woke up at 4 am and couldn't fall back asleep...
I sent it to DSE about 2 months ago because I decided I wanted a big block put in and wanted them to do it. I talked to Kyle and he said he had a 534ci motor he had built for one of his projects but never used it. We worked out a deal and they started taking mine apart. Most people would have just put the motor in, bolted a set of Hooker headers to it and called it a day, not the guys at DSE. They first dynoed the motor to make sure everything was good, put it in the car and fabricated a custom set of headers, complete fuel system and all necessary wiring. They installed the motor atleast four times to make sure everthing was right. They set driveline angles, oil pan clearance ect. They even sanded primed and painted the motor in their paint booth! Upon final assembly, they had everything done and when they fired it to test it, it had a small oil leak at the rear main, this was 5 pm friday. I had a truck scheduled to pick it up at noon on sat. Klye told me that all the guys wanted to get it done and they stayed all night until 5 am sat to fix it. At 7 am on Sat, they fired it and it still had a small leak. They pulled the motor back out and took it to the machine shop and it ended up being a rear main adapter that was faulty. They got it back from the machine shop and assembled everything and it's PERFECT! These guys are true car guys, not just a shop that wants to do their 8-5 and go home. I cannot thank Kyle,Jay and all the guys at the shop enough. They worked their butts off to make sure everything was perfect. I got my car today, drove it and it is bad ass. There was not one scuff mark nor dirt on my car. These guys are the best.
I will post more pictures of the fuel system and undercarriage tomorrow.

That's awesome, I wish I lived out that way to send my car there for some work. But they are way to far from me.

Good to hear the story SW

What kind of HP is the 534 making?

:hail: SW very nice!! DSE sounds like a real class act! I'm in the process of getting some quotes for my Camaro to get an LSx swap and minitub its hard just leaving your car with someone especially that far away but when you hear stuff like this its so much more reassuring... btw what is DSE's shop rate per hour?

I live in the same area as Kyle and Stacy and run in to them from time to time. You couldn't meet any one nicer. I love the clean look of your engine bay. Not too slicked up with everything hidden. Just has a buisness look.

I'm thinking it's in Open Discussion because instead of giving us a whole bunch of pics of the car, he's just telling us about his experience with a site sponsor.

Either that, or he's just a tease.

SW, think the thread should be moved to Project Updates?

I should be a moderator :naughty: :drive2:

I was just talking about my experience with DSE..

Yody, the headers have more clearance than my small block headers, I will get some pictures up tomorrow.

Derek, please move it if you see fit.

Thanks,

what size headers and HP?

Streetking
09-28-2005, 06:05 PM
2 1/4 " headers. The motor dynoed 679hp/659trq with the small carb, 710hp 675trq with the dominator. All I know, it melts the 335's through the first 3 gears..

I think is it in the right place myself. It is not an update, other than the questions some are asking SW. I look forward to seeing it soon SW. The headers look tight yet so right in there. I am glad you got in home safe and sound, I guess the brothers and sisters are a bit jealous of the extra attention it has gotten. :lmao:

Awesome car. I am about halfway to the aluminum look, the leftover chrome ruins my engine bay.I even did kick plates, just use a scotchbrite pad for maintenance.

I am getting dse stuff for my front suspension, the difference in cost will be forgotten but the quality of the parts will always be there.
