View Full Version : Momo hub for 67 Camaro/68 Chevelle
Going with a momo monte carlo on my cars, could not find a hub for pre 69 GM. Anyone used the 69 and up hub, or any other solution?
Thanks,
John

I assume we're talkin steering wheels here.
You can use the following Momo to Grant adapter kit in conjunction with a Grant 3162 adapter kit

John,
You can modify the 69> hub to work. 68< has a horn contac ring and turn signal canceller on the hub/steering wheel, in 69 GM put those parts in the column. You can also modify a GM sport wheel hub to work it has the same bolt index has MOMO just clocked different.

This is what I do. I buy the billet hub from Grant for pre69. Its a very nice piece you can get from Summit Racing in either polished or black alum for $44

Then I buy the Grant to MOMO adapter ring also from Grant. Its also a nice alum piece for $14.

Here is a pic of the one I just did for my Mustang. I have used this combo so many times. You will get stunning results with the billet pieces and at a price close to plain adapters.
Thanks for all your help! -- I am going to try the grant billet approach... looks slick.

John,
Info you should also know before going the Grant/MOMO way is that the Grant hub is about 1.5"-2" tall and the MOMO adaptor is about 1.25" tall and the dish of a MOMO Monte Carlo steering is also about 1.25", this will move the steering wheel into your chest. If you modify a GM sport steering wheel hub the steering wheel will be near the stock distance from you.

Thats true measure first, but most MOMO's are not as deep as Grant or some other wheels, so they actually end up close to stock. After about 4 of them on my different cars, no problems yet. Just check the dish depth of your wheel and calculate so that it does not end up too close to you. In the pic, I also used a .75 inch additional spacer to get it just right on my Mustang, on my 69 Camaro is is just right with no spacer.
Thanks for the heads up - I will measure first... how easy is the mod on the GM sport wheel hub / where can I order one if needed?

My way works without mods or indexing issues and depth with a Momo wheel (35mm offset) is equivalent to the 1968 OE deep offset wheel.
Is the 3162 adapter kit lower profile than the billet one?
Thanks

Yes. The 3162 and Momo to Grant adapter have a combined depth that is equal to (or very close to) the Grant billet hub. The Grant billet hub has a 5 bolt SAE thread pattern which is why you need that extra adapter with a six bolt metric pattern.
So if you go with the Grant billet hub, you then must add the depth of the Grant six bolt (Momo) to five bolt adapter as described above. :drive1:
Got it - going to measure and go from there... will post pics when done.
