The ultimate stock subframe set up

I'm doing a 67 firebird and I'm trying to figure out the best parts to use for a stock subframe. This is a car that will get auto crossed a whole lot and road raced a few times a year plus the typical street duty. As of right now I am thinking of doing this:

sc&c upper and lower control arms with tall ball joints and tall outer tie rod.
      ats chicane coil over mount
ride tech single adjustable coil overs
      lee steering box.
stock spindles for now and maybe afx spindles down the road.
      13 brakes from core3
255 or 275 front tires depending what can be fit.
i will also be stitching up the frame for strength.

looking for opinions on this set up and suggestions on any changes to this. I'm just trying to get the most out of my stock frame.

      1969 Camaro under construction.
      1967 firebird. 6.0/t56. Ridetech stage 2. Moser 9 inch. Forgeline wheels.(SOLD)

I'd rock the true track if I had a first gen allows up to a 10 wide tire

Maybe add a tube to the front horns to remove some dendancy to twist from it. Other than that I think you have it covered.

What motor are you going to run in your Pontiac? If you are running a Pontiac motor you will need to do some research into the Tru-Track before you buy.

Looks like a good set up. My set up is very similar, other than the coil overs and Lee box.

If your ultimate goal is AFX spindles, I'd suggest you save up and do it now. You can still use the stock height AFX spindle and tall upper ball joints. Going with the AFX spindles now saves you the $$$ on the Kore3 hubs and tall outer tie rod ends, which can go towards the purchase of the spindles.

looks good, one mod I would add is the Guldstrand Mod, the tall ball joint isn't enough to fix the camber curve, and either is most tall spindles, the spindle to fix the curve (its really bad in a first gen) would have to be stupid tall and then you would have packaging problems, like running 20 inch wheels to clear the spindle. the Guldstand mod only moves the arm about .750 thousands (just 3/4 inch) but with the motion ration on the arms the effect is closer to 1.2 inch of movement on the wheel side, creating the effect that the spindle is another (1 1/4) inch and a quarter taller....and changes the roll center by 3 inches! Just from moving 4 holes, another cool thing is if you use the original Guldstrand mod it also changes the Anti-dive principles so the cars nose dives less under braking, making it way more stable going into corners...there's a few more bennys that happen but its the easiest and cheapest mod to a stock chassis you can do...next to welding all the seams

If your going to use ALL the other Speedtech parts Chicane, AFX Spindle why would you not use the Speedtech control arms? our high clearance upper works perfectly with the Tall AFX spindle. what is the advantage of the SPC upper arm?

Rods spot on but with one caveat.
Depending on the orientation of the BJ plate on those UCAs, they could bind at full compression. I have to modify stock UCAs to run tall Bjs w/ lowered mounting points (similar to Guldstrand).

Also, if you want "ultimate" you should probably switch your outer tie rod to a rod end. Then dial out the bump steer your self. Not saying the 1/2" tall tie rod won't fix it but I'd rather do it myself and be sure.

The ultimate stock subframe set up

You should look at the subframe from the One Lap Camaro. Some else has already spent the time to dial it in. You could also sell the headers and exhaust to re coupe some of your investment.

That's a good call its a great set up I know That Dave and James spent a long time getting the kinks out, it even has an custom Pozzi form of the tru-turn on it to get rid of the bumpsteer or you could just use all my ridetech gear

My arms(geometry corrective-correct ball joint angles and more castor), coil-overs(mono-tube shock body and Hyperco springs), tru-turn(bump steer correction, tall spindles and the ability to run 275 tires-10inch rim)

Are there any advantages to the adjustable upper control arms? The set up that I asked about in my first post came from Marcus at sc&c and everyone's always saying to talk to him. I like the look of ridetech and speed tech as we'll but there are just so many different opinions I'm not sure which to choose.

many say that with the adjustable arm you can adjust castor....but how many here do it? and adjust to what? when we did the new control arms we added castor slugs that allow the castor to be moved and we added some castor to the lower arm (moved the lower ball joint forward) to keep the wheel centered and allow more tire clearance around the fender edges ...hope that helps
