View Full Version : Gbody Elky guys. widest rear wheel?
thanks to Tony's fitment guide I can see that at least a 9.5 wide rim can be fit in the rear of a Gbody Elky. is this the widest rim that will fit? i didnt take any measurements only looked, but it appeared that the wheel well is fairly square and with the inner lip rolled could fit a 10in wide rim with no frame or body modifications. what about if the car is lowered? like i said i just looked and the tires were on the car too, but the wheelwell looked square enough that if the rim would fit between the frame and inner wheel lip everything would be ok. any one know for sure? thanks for the info.

hi,
on my 1979 El-Camino i have on the rear axle 10x17" with 255/40ZR17. you can also drive with 265/40.
Backspace is 4,5"

Jack the back end high enough and just about anything will fit.
hahahaha wrong way man. im going lower if i do anything
i would ride at least as low as Klaus' or maybe even lower or bagged even. so this could get interesting if I try to push it with the width.

looks fine.
i think 5" backspace is the maximum. one times i testest wheels with a 5,5" backspace on my Camino, but the wheel scrubs on the frame.

I dont have pics yet but I will, however I am running on the rear of my 1978 Malibu a 17x10 Boyd Coddington turbine with a 315-35-17. The car from the rear looks crazy with that much tire...
