which way do the fins go on directional vented C5 rotors?

I have C5 brakes on my car, with raybestos cross drilled rotors. The rotors have L and R stickers on each one, however they are directional rotors, the vents/fins curve in one direction. I want to make sure it is right, can anyone post a pic? thanks

Factory Z06's (atleast the 3 in the shop) has the curve of the fins facing foreward like this...
      <---- ) <--- going foreward.

You want the vanes positioned so when turning the air is pulled in at the center or hub first & exists at the outer diameter. That way if you have cooling ducts you can position them at the center of the rotor.

I thought I knew where there was a pic, but can't seem to find it.

      Looking at the right front.......

From the outside diameter, with trailing edge of the "fin" being at top..... the "fin" root would go in a clock wise direction towards the center.

      As this picture shows:

I'm more worried about the vanes inside the rotor, on teh C5 they are directional, look at the cutout of the rotor that chicane posted

      oh. crap.

This ones outta my area.... But on a porsche, they spin as though they are cutting in to the air. Like a saw blade. Those are the only ones with directional vanes I've ever seen.

If you are talking about the vanes only, then the picture answers the question.

As for the cross drill and slotting, the cross drill should follow along the same lines because the holes are drilled into the cavity between the vanes themselves. But the slotting, I feel should do the same...... as the flow of air and gas is from center out. So that pretty much puts the root of the slot forward..... just like the internal vanes.

i think you have typing dislexia again tom.

This is the right side rotor as the factory casted "R" would put it. I know its on the left in this shot but I was checking rotor to grinding noise clearence and it was the closest rotor within my reach. I also verified it with the Z06's in the shop. Tony's pictures are also correct. The machined slots follow the inner vanes.
Curious but what do the Raybestos stickers say to do???? Or can you not read those either???? Dum axe

Well.............. I guess Baer, Willwood, AP Racing, Rebco, JFZ, CNC and too many others have it wrong.

Well, actually... that is how StopTech has choosen to do it. Not BMW actually...........

Here is a picture from the most renowned manufacturer in the world:

Which is different than the actual product they produce. Its an older drawing and the actual picture is what they produce. It actually displays the slots differently. This is a picture of a right front:

so which one is right??? I'm more worried about the vanes inside the rotor rather than the crossdrilling/slots.

Well, I say the picture is correct in both instances. The direction of the vanes are the same in the picture..... and with their constant development, I believe there is a reason they produce the rotor with the slots the way they are...... which is the same direction as the vanes.

All gas and air flow, goes from center out..... thats how vented (directional or non directinal) brake cooling works. I would take the word of the largest and only supplier to Formula One Racing over some barney bolt on place trying to make the bling sell.

      Toms right

I stand corrected, I just pulled the wheels off of my Camaro and Tom is right. The rotor is clearly stamped LF and the vanes face rearward. My apoligies for making fun of Toms typing dislexia when it was I that has assembly dislexia...
