C4 Vette front suspension in 70 GTO

so ive searched hi and low but cant find answers to my questions, if you guys know a thread thatll help me, thats great too. ive got a lead on getting the front clip off an 85 corvette. car was pristine, smashed in the rear, only 30k miles. basically, i'll modify my GTO frame to accept the whole front cross member of the vette. the idea being, with some fab work and this really cheap front clip, and the cost of new bushings to make it like new again, ill have a great corvette suspension, rack and pinion steering and more modern disk brakes.
so a 70 gto weighs about 500 lbs more then the 85 vette. my 455 weighs about 680lbs. the lt1 in the vette weighs around 780. so my main question, with a net weight change of 400 lbs heavier (whole car) will the current monoleaf support it and still have that "corvette handling". or do they offer stiffer monoleafs that can accommodate and handle better with the weight, and if so, what spring weight should i be looking at. monoleafs are kind of like a black magic to me at the moment as ive only dealt in coil front springs up ill now.

my second question, besides the obvious of getting the frame to fit the cross member, what other things am i overlooking or should consider before i do this?

overall i think its a cool idea and should be a fun project. and with the body off the frame nows the time.

68 views and nothing? Anyways, I went and measured today the corvette cross member is 28". The gto cross member is 28". The frame on both is 3.75" wide and 4.75" tall.
And it really looks like itll be straight forward. The only thing I see is the motor mounts are about 6" farther back on the corvette front end which means either I cut my firewall but get better weight distribution, or move the mounts forward and run into the balancer possibly being in the way of the rack and pinion. I estimate my final design being some combination of the two.

So I take it not many use IRS on the rear of these cars.
