      QA1 Front Coil-over Spring Rate 67 Camaro LS2/T56

Well my problem is now fixed.

Few years back I ordered QA1 coil overs for my 67 camaro LS2/T56. I looked around online to determine the correct spring rate but unfortunately came up empty in my quest. The manufacturers recommends certain spring rates based on front end weight only. I like most people around didn't have the luxury of the proper scales to weigh my front end to make this determination. Knowing that an LS2 is roughly 100 to 200lbs lighter than an iron block, I ended up ordering the wrong spring rate (350). Installed and quickly discovered that the springs weren't enough to support the front end weight which was surprising since the ls is lighter than all the other engines I ran before. Basically ran on the bump stops for a long while, possibly years, can't remember how long I put up with it. No matter how high I adjusted the springs up it wouldn't raise the vehicle any because the weight of the vehicle was more than the springs could take. Adjusting up just bound the spring more and made the ride that much more brutal. I even tried installing spacers under the shock to raise it up. Bottom line was I ordered the wrong springs but was determined to make my new purchase work since I just spent the $500 on them.

Finally ordered 400lb springs and installed. When I swapped them my driver side shock was worn through from rubbing and leaking. So I did what anyone would do and put silicone on it so no more fluid would leak out (I was lazy and cheap and didn't want to order new shocks since I just spent more money on the new springs). Ride improved but every time I hit a big bump car would bounce up and down like an old caddy.

Put up with this for a few years and finally decided to order new QA1 coil overs with 450lb springs. Installed this weekend and wouldn't you know, it's like a hole new car. I bought the single adjustable and set it about the mid way point. Ride is perfect now. The QA1 shocks dampen the bumps in the road perfectly, the suspension is firm but not overbearing.

Just my experience but I'm pleased everything is now working properly. Thought I would throw this thread together because as mentioned above,I couldn't find my answer anywhere. If this helps one Camaro owner with a similar setup then it was worth it.
