Pro Touring my nova

hopefully this is the right place to post this. Where to begin lol, i have a bone stock 72 nova and i really want to go with the pro touring route. this car will be strictly street and will be driven a hell of a lot, so i need help deciding what i need for a great handling semi daily driver. I have looked around all over the place (hotchkis,cpp,cbr,speed tech,tci, etc) and need help as to what exactly i need. I really like the TVS system that hotchkis has, but want to know what all of you think. Please ask me a ton of questions so i know exactly what ill be needing or what works, keep in mind im a noob to suspension stuff. I want a car that can take a corner no problem and be tight, want to be able to handle speed and not be so slugish and not have crazy body roll. sports suspension on an older car really. I think Hotchkis's TVS system on your car would be great along with a set of CBR uppers and lowers in the front and coilovers all around.

I've read that Hotchkis springs might drop the car too much so you may want to replace those with another brand like a set of Afco springs. I'd also see if CBR will change out the poly bushings on their A arms and replace them with del a lum bushings. Rebush everything else with polygraphite bushings. 600lb spring up front should give you enough resistance without spoiling the ride although if you want you could go to a 700lb spring without too harsh a ride.

as nice as both of those products are, i believe its a little bit of overkill no? i was thinking control arms, sfc, stiffer springs, good shocks, sway bars, stiffer leafs in the back. gotta keep in mind im not tracking the car at all, just want a pretty good handling daily driver, i dont want to buy or add things that will have no use to a street car.

Keep in mind, new cars don't come with Leaf Springs like the Old days. There are reasons why (Axle Wrap, constant Pinion Angle Changes, etc).

Don't get me wrong, the things that you are thinking about changing are good choices, but a Torque Arm like what Blake & I offer is a Good thing for a Straight Axle Car. GM used them in later Camaros for a Reason.

You didn't mention Budget in your 1st Post and I just wanted you to know what is available to you from American Suppliers.

I agree. A torque arm would be a good way for him to go. I mentioned the CBR rear end as it would also be a good choice it being a triangulated 4 link.

I’ve got the same situation for my 72’ Nova, mostly street driven but I’ll take it to the track here and there too, not to compete but just to have an area that I can legally give it everything I can. I spent a lot of time researching what the best system would be to fit my needs, I decided to go with SpeedTech. Ive bought their Torque Arm, and have the Ridtech Single Adjustable rear shocks. I’m basically piecing their suspension together as I have the money. I haven’t had a chance to install my TA yet because I’m just not to that point on my project yet but it is a great looking product and I haven’t run across a single person that is running it that regrets it. They’re also great with their tech support, I’m not affiliated with them in any way; but after going down there and picking up my stuff I don’t have enough good things to say about their team. If you do decide to stick with leaf springs, I might have cal-tracs, and 1.5” lowering Hotchkis multi leafs for sale.

You mention coil over all around yet you post the link for the full set of shocks that work in conjunction with the TVS system.

If you do not mention a budget people are always going to give you top of the line. Check my build thread here (http://ls1tech.com/forums/conversions-hybrids/1695451-72-nova-booboo-project-ls-4l65e.html) as I did the TVS system and basically the same as you were asking. I have not driven the car yet, some day I will, but from the search I have been doing since day one it should work pretty well.
