I need some help running my brake lines in my '69 Camaro. In the '69 Camaro rear brakes, a single hard line couples to a flex line that has a distribution block feeding two lines, one for each rear wheel. The distribution block bolts to an L-shaped bracket connected to a cover bolt on the rear side of the 10-bolt rear end. I have a Ford 9" rear end and the bracket for the distribution block doesn't fit well. Anyone have a suggestion on how to mount the rear brake line, particularly with respect to the distribution block.

Can you weld something like a nut or bung to the rear end housing, and P-clip the hard line or block to it perhaps?

Yes, and thanks for the suggestion, but we've already powder coated the rear end. I was hoping for a bolt-on solution. How do Ford production vehicles handle this issue?

I dealt with this issue some years ago. I bent a bracket from steel strap that bolts under one of the carrier nuts and goes over the top (somewhat to the side) of the housing, placing the distribution block at a similar location as if it was bolted to one of the original rear cover bolts.

Thanks, that's what I had in mind too, but I assumed Ford would already have created such a bracket. Anybody know?

This is what I used. It's from CPP. I ended up grinding off the 90* angle on the bracket and covering it with clear shrink tube.

This is the only pic I could find with it installed. Hopefully it will show what you're looking for.

Ford typically uses the breather vent fitting in the tube to attach the tee-fitting to the housing, so next best bet is one of the options noted above since your housing is painted already.

I'm pretty sure I'll regret it but I just used the stock Camaro piece on my '67 with a 9" (car is not functional yet). I may have had to drill out the hole in the bracket for the piece, but I think it pretty much fit otherwise? Probably mounted it at around the 2:00 position, looking from the rear of the car?
