Attention tall guys with Camaros:
I bailed on factory frames and TMI covers. Great quality but my head was denting the roof...total fiasco. Looked into new aftermarket seats - only decent stuff I could find were $900/ea Recaros. Stumbled upon some guys running Pontiac Fiero seats. They sit VERY low so I'll be picking up over 3" of headroom. I'm not a fan of going with cheap-o aftermarket stuff where safety is a concern - so going with OEM seat frames and tracks is a wise move in my book.

I wanted to keep a semi-factory look so decided to chop the integrated headrests off and fab up factory '69 headrests and make them adjustable...NICE! I'm contouring the seat backs to maintain a close-to-factory profile. They'll be black/houndstooth with red French seams.

Follow along the progress here:

Great link. I look forward to seeing how they turn out.

Didn't some fiero seats have speakers built into the head rests?

Yep...I've spent longer than I would have ever thought researching Fiero seats... :)
There were speakers in the '84-'85 year seats. My seats were '88s so no speakers but even if they had them, I would have bailed on them. Integrating the factory '69 headrest looks to be coming out really killer and should confuse people... ;)

Fiero seats installed!! These seats have done it all: far lower seating position, recline, sliders work fine, thinner seat back so rear leg room is improved, WAY more comfortable than stock, great side/thigh bolstering. Just awesome! People hear Fiero and they think of the goofy, horrible 80s car but Fiero seats are the answer for some solid gold high-quality seats if you do it right...

I've got a great local shop here in SoCal who specializes in custom work: Bill's Hot Rod Interiors

Brilliant. Looks very clean. I am doing the same with my project by using 2002 Acura CL coupe seats, and also putting 2000 Saab seats in my fathers '65 GTO. We are also located in So. Cal.
