I have 65 Chevelle that I'm working on and what im interested in seeing is any pics of what anyone used for paint under the hood on the firewall and on the inner fenders. Im not looking for the shiney base coat clear coat paint. I'm looking for something that's easy maintenance yet still looks appealing I have seen cars wherePeople have used I don't want to say flat black but its kinda like that. So at anyrate please post pics and productInformation thank you..

There's a lot of options depending on budget, prep you're willing to do, use of the car, along with your appearance expectations. Krylon semi flat black spray cans up to products like the Eastwood 2 K ceramic chassis black. Some products are more or less resistant to UV light graying so if the car will sit out in shows etc. with the hood up that may be a consideration. It's very hard to tell the difference between blacks (other than the glossiness) in pics. I did engine compartment makeovers at a machine shop for a couple of years in the worst conditions for painting and used a lot of different brands.

Factory finish on Chevrolet most under hood components is 30% gloss. If you are looking to duplicate that out of a rattle can, here are several to choose from:
Krylon 1613 "Semi-Flat Black"
Sem 38103 "Rust Shield"
Rustoleum 7777 "Satin Black" (Dries slower and a bit glossier than Krylon & Sem.)

Not sure on the brand but, NAPA sells an underhood black that is spot on for the factory finish. I have used it on an 87 Grand National and 67 Nova I owned in the past.

I used the same in my Falcons Engine bay. Sprayed and flowed out very nice. It's also very durable.
