Ok...I officially give up on my factory seat frames and tmi covers. I'm 6'3" and I have to slide so far forward that it all but destroys my time behind the wheel. So, they will be sold along with matching TMI 4spd console.
Now I need info from you all on which aftermarket or used junkyard seats would offer the most head room. I read that Corbeaus may work or perhaps Recaros or cipher. Lots of conflicting info, though.
I would like to retain a small dash of factory look...I'm not into the fast n furious racer boy look. I will recover in black vinyl/houndstooth so if a new seat can be custom covered this will help.
thx for your help!

I'm 6"4" and 230 lbs and understand your situation. Last year I tried my 1st autocross with my stock Houndstooth seats and using a borrowed helmet. I discovered the helmet was jammed into the headliner so bad I could not focus on the driving. I also wanted to keep a somewhat stock look. And I have sat in a Camaro with the racer seats w/ big side bolsters and discovered it very difficult to get in and out of the car. So I got a set of 1999 Camaro seats and installed the Houndstooth seat covers from Year One, thinking that would be a good solution. Well they looked nice and were an improvement on the stock seats, but the power motors stick down too low and stop the seats from going lower, so I had little or no improvement in height. Recently I got in the passenger set with the manual seat track and discovered it was around 1/2" lower than driver side. I have rounded up a manual seat track for the driver side and initial measurements look like I can section about 1/2" from those mounting legs. But it will be about 3 or 4 weeks before I can get to that project due to other obligations. I can keep you posted on the results.

Thx Gary. Yes, please keep me posted. This is a killer for me...so much time and money in the car and I can't drive the damn thing...

I have the Scat Procars and chopped the legs off the brackets and bolted them directly to the floor. Then chopped the bottom of the tabs off the seats themselves also to get them as low as possible. Works very well for me, but I'm only 6'1" I guess too... Way better than my last car with the factory seats.
