What spark plug to use

I am ready to drop in my engine. It is a 383 small block, Procomp aluminum heads, 202 160, Xe274 cam and 9.7-1 comp ratio. The cam is a flat tappet hedraulic. Any ideas what plug I should use? No NOS or boost. Just driver

I Love NGK plugs. I used them exclusively in my 2002 Mustang GT and my 2003 Cobra.

I'd recomend the TR6's. Generally you want to go as cold as you can without fouling the plugs. The TR6 should be a good choice for you. I really like autolite plugs as well.

I ran autolite race plugs in my SBC for a long time due to clearance issues.....IMO i would run delco plugs if I could

NGK U-groove plugs are the ones I like, too. I would like to try the iridium Denso's though.....

I don't have any first hand experiance because I never used them. But the guys in the 03/04 Cobra world run far away from those plugs. Lots of stories of cracked porceline chipping off and falling into the combustions chambers. The general consensus there is that for the price of the plugs they are worthless.

But like I said I've never run them before so I have nothing to go by but hearsay.

Might be some confusion occuring here :

Ngk TR6 plugs are 3/4" reach taper seat plugs.
Most aftermarket Aluminum heads use 3/4" reach gasket type plugs
U-groove is the "name" that Accel uses
V-power is NGK's "name" of the performance oriented plug

Scottyz - If your heads require a gasketed plug, I'd go with the NGK FR5.
Those should work great w/ that comp. and last a long time. Good luck!

NGK's routinely go half a season in 650-700hp 360" sprint car motors at 8500rpm, much of the time with a bad tune, around here. It's all I've ever used.

your head manufacturer can probably provide some recomendations...

fwiw I run Autolite AR133's with my Dart angle plug heads.

I am using the Bosch Platnium +4's with a MSD box. Unless you will be running a MSD box for extra juice, I would not pay the extra for them. I have used standard Bosch platniums for years with good results. I have also run AC Delco's a bunch but always found them to load up at idle with the receommended plug so I always buy a slightly hotter plug.
