Procar Elite seats. Who is running them? Likes/dislikes?

I'm a bigger fella at around 6'2" 240 lbs. Right now my head almost hits the ceiling in my 67' GTO. I'm running the legendary rally seat conversion but i'm not really happy with how high they sit. I'm considering trying out the ProCar elite seats but i'm not sure about how they fit big guys? I tried the Procar Rally and they weren't even remotely close. I was sitting on the bolsters so my head was in the roof.

Is anyone running the elite seats? Do they have enough support for Auto X? Are they lower profile than stock seats? Would they be suited well to a bigger guy? Whats your overall opinion of them?

I am 6'5" and about 225. I sat in the Procar Elite lumbar at SEMA and it felt great. I still had some room in it and proportionally it was the best tried at the show. Since it was at the show, I wasn't able to gauge overall height in a car but I put it down as a solid option for my current build.

I run the Elite 1100 and like them a lot. Very comfortable on long trips and supportive on the track. If you want to sit in them, come on over. You're more than welcome to try them out before purchasing. My wife is on the plus side and also likes the seat.

I have them. I am 5'9 and 185. I am pretty wide in the shoulders. They are comfortable and very supportive for aggressive driving. In my car they sit higher than the stock seats.

I don't have the prcar elite seats in my Chevelle, but have their rally seats. They have a little more bolstering then the elite, and are made to have a similar pater to 60's muscle cars, but similar seats. I'm a pretty stocky guy, 5'10", 190-200lbs, big shoulders, and I fit great in the seat. It's super comfortable, gives me a great driving position, really holds me in, and I still have headroom. The only thing is that with how low my car is, and all the bolstering its not the easiest to get out. Think jermey clarkson getting out of a lotus.

I actually tried the procar rallye seats in my GTO last year. I sat in them for about 5 minutes and sent them back. They were far too small for me and they seemed to sit pretty high.

Nick, considering what you are driving have you considered the late model GTO seats? Not sure how high they sit but they are larger seats and very comfortable. They would fit your car nicely and the GTO logo would be a bonus.

I've got procars in my 70 camaro and they're not too bad but I'm not but 5'9". They seem a little high but nothing I can't deal with. I hated the side bolsters until I got my tilt column. It was almost like climbing in over a door bar/cage to me. My right knee is much happier now!

I know what you mean about them sitting high. I personally like that, since once I get in I can't move around at all. It's great when I'm racing. Bygblok, does having a tilt column really make it that much easier to get in and out? All my buddy poke fun out of me squeezing out, it's like a show for them at shows and what not.

the tilt column was the best thing I did to ease getting in and out. Get with Jim on here(gmtilt.com or birdsandbowties) here's a link for his columns in the for sale section. Super great guy to deal with. Wish I had a pic of the column he did for me. Has the brights on the column now instead of the floor...another plus!! Oh, and yes he does Chevelle's too.... ;)

I'm 6' and pushing 3 bills, I got the Elite Lumbar series seats for my Torino. I personally love the seats, and find them really comfortable, though I don't think the bolsters are high enough for racing. My biggest complaint about them is the seat adapters. When installed with the seat adapters my head hit the roof. I ended up cutting the risers off of the adapters and now I have more than enough head room.

Are those the leather or vinyl? How do you feel about the quality of materials??

It's the black vinyl, overall I'm satisfied with the seats and materials used. I was just pissed about the seat adapters. They claim they make seat adapters for '70/'71 Torinos, well after waiting two months on the seat adapters they came in and were completely wrong.

I went back and forth between Jegs and Procar over the issue. First they claimed that they have to wait for enough orders to come in before they make the adapters which is why it took two months to get the adapters. Information of course they don't tell you when you order them. Then when I got them, as you can see from the pictures, they didn't match. Common sense would say that the passenger side adapter should be a mirror opposite from the driver side. Completely not the case. I had to modify the adapters and they refunded me half of the price of the adapters "for my trouble".

Here are a couple of pics of the modifications you have to make to get them to fit and maximize headroom. The seat tracks come with three height adjustment slots. I put it on the lowest adjustment and had to cut off the excess.

You know their adapters being too tall seems to be an issue across all car paltforms. You would think they would take that into account when making them, especially with teh seats having multiple holes to bolt them to.
