What is a safe minimum exhaust to rear tire clearance?

Its 3" pipe which runs parallel to the sidewalls of the tire.

The mini tube makes it tight!

Thanks,

I have the same issue, would love to hear someone weigh in. I think that my passenger side rear tire is actually rubbing, so I know that's too close :-).

I'd say less than an inch is cutting it close, but I've ran them as close as 1/2" with no issues.. When you're really on the throttle when the exhaust is hottest, the tires are moving fast and allows them to spread the heat out more.

Hope that helps??? How close are you now? Could also ceramic coat the exhaust or put some other heat shield/wrap on it..

I am in the same boat. My passenger side is slightly dragging on the tire.

I am planning on adding 3/16" spacers and heating the exhaust pipe in the contact area and massaging it a bit to get maybe another 1/8" or so.

That should give me around 5/16" clearance but not sure if that is enough.

Thanks for the response Dale!

What would be a good heat wrap to use?

If you have enough clearance to wrap the pipe then I don't think you need to wrap the pipe....
:-(
I am hoping to be able to slip the whole pack of playing cards between the pipe and the tire, rather than just a single card.

How hot does a tailpipe get?
