Hi!
A friend of mine has a LS3 430hp crate engine.
HeŽd like 500+ hp.
What to do?
What kind of ECU is needed? (doesnŽt have one)
Also,... what camshaft would You recommend?
RPM range approx. 1500-6000
The car is used as a daily driver and occasional autocross driving.
Chevelle -66, LS3, T56.
Thanks. Mike.

Did he just buy this? I would have got a 7.0 or a stoked LS3 instead if the power goals were higher.
I suggest CNC port the heads, a healthy cam, and a FAST 102/102 set-up. The ECM can be an OEM type. It will be close to 600FWHP with the right cam.

Are we talking at the wheels or flywheel? I think you would have to do heads and cam to be at that number at the wheels.

Thanks. for the answers.
I think we wait with the camshaft swap for now.
Cold air intake and long tube headers would be a good start.

One question about the ECU.
If we buy the 19258270-GMPP LS3 Controller kit LS376/430.
contains pre-programmed ECU.
Is it possible to reprogram this ECU, if we decide to replace the camshaft to get the 500+HP?
Mike.

Yes you can reprogram it.

If this is a daily driver and you are concerned about fuel economy I would buy a magnuson supercharger. You will get the same fuel economy as stock as long as you keep your foot out of it.

Too many variables with Wheel Hp. I was meaning a tad below 600hp at the crank. Low 500s to the wheels.
