The car had been sitting for some time before I was able to get back to work on it. I did a rearend swap, and while I was at it, I removed a leaf (it was a 5 leaf, too stiff, and sat too high.) Now when I go over bumps, I sound like I"m in an Amish big block buggy. The springs sound awful. Don't know if it's something I did, or because it was sitting for so long.

Here's what I did. Removed the front bracket (to drop the spring out of the way for the rear swap). Pulled the spring pack bolt. Removed the bottom leaf. Reassembled. I also had started to unbolt the rear eyelet, but due to access getting the bolt out, decided not too.

My question is, did I over tighten something? Not tighten it enough? Is it just because it was sitting for so long? The car is a convertible, so it's especially noticeable and annoying. Really don't want to tear everything apart again, unless I absolutely have to.

First question -what kind fo spring eye bushings? Urethane?

Many springs have a little plastic "cushion" on the end of the leaves to help them slide and not make noise.

Thats because it uses the same suspension as an amish buggy.
seriously, did you remove any cusions when you removed the leaf. Was there a gap left between the shackle clamps?

Look for tell tales like rust spots. Lube the contact points with a spray grease and keep trying.

Thanks for the replies!

I believe the eye bushings are poly. No zerk fittings on them though. Is there a way to grease them?

The isolators between springs are still there. I only removed the bottom one, which did not have the isolators.

Unfortunately the Bilstein shocks I installed are so stiff I can't even flex the suspension to see if it's the springs themselves or the bushings.
