1970 Chevelle Pro-Touring Restoration LS/T56

Hey guys! Been looking on this forum for a couple years now, and I finally decided to make an account and post my project that my dad and I have been working on for the past 6 years! I'm pretty far into the build, but still far from completion. So, I guess I'll just start from the beginning!

I bought this car on eBay for $500 in November of 2007, I was 14 then. It was a rust bucket and was meant to be a "parts car." But, I saw the potential of what it could be! So, I snatched it and we drove 200 miles to pick it up!

We started on the bodywork and it needed A LOT of it!!!

This chevelle is a malibu that had a vinyl top! There was TONS of rust holes all around the roof! So, we cut the skin and bought a nice top off of a '71 chevelle for $100 (bought this before they started making the repro roofs)

We stripped the quarters and didn't like what we saw, so we went with the repro quarters.

After a lot of test fitting and getting the china quarters to fit correctly (kinda wish we just fixed the original quarters) we glued the inner fender wells and the quarters. The fenders were a mess, so I sold them for $400 and bought repros.

11" Drilled slotted rotors

These are the cheap $300 upper and lower A arms with Heidts 2" drop tall spindles. MAKE SURE YOU REPLACE THE BALLJOINTS ON THESE CHEAP ARMS!! The lower balljoints are weak and will break! And the bolts for the top balljoints are weak and need to be replaced with grade 8 bolts.

Chassis complete! Minus rear suspension... I haven't decided whether to do coil overs or air bags.

I don't have the budget for rack and pinion. But, I got a IROC Camaro steering box with a pretty quick ratio! So, that should be fine for now!

2006 4.8/4L60E with 80k miles I picked up for $700. I didn't get a alternator or an ECU. But, I sold the 4L60E for $400 and the wiring harness for $80.
I'm going with a painless wiring harness.

Also picked up this T56 out of a 02 Camaro SS with 60K miles for $1100 then later picked up a bell housing for a decent price.

Picked up a 12 bolt posi 3:31 gears out of an El Camino for $700. Got it powdercoated and chromed! Got some old cadillac brakes we rebuilt and powdercoated yellow!
