Is anyone using an AutoRad radiator support and radiator in a 67 - 69 Camaro? I was wondering what you did as far as the battery goes? Seems like a regular size battery would be a tight fit.

Thanks,

In the trunk. Dry sump tank goes where the battery was. :smoke:

You will have to modify your fender braces as well. The extra width on the radiator necessitates that the mounting holes on the core support move outward.

All worth the effort.

I'm also considering one of these setups for a 68 build. Anyone have any good pictures of an install?

No wonder you and I get along so well Donny.

Ron, how did the core support fit? Were you able to line up everything? I fitted the car before I painted it with the original core support and now that the car is painted I don't want to get into any issues.

You will have some minor issues Tony. Nothing fits in hot rodding :D

Need to shim the core support up. I used spacers on top of the body mounts. Also the close out makes your hood latch worthless until you do some cuttin'. Worth it IMO, but next time around I'd just skip the close outs...

How much of a spacer did you need to make it work? Also, would you use this set up again?

Cars vary. We didn't need spacers, and actually milled the supplied spacer between the core support and the bolt on brackets. Also our close out worked fine along with the hood latch.

Donny, was this on a 1st Gen. Camaro? Thanks for the reply back.

Thanks,

I'm running the Autorad rad/core support in my '67. I'm still building, but the battery is in the trunk.

BTW- Jim and Karen are awesome to work with and their product is outstanding. It's well worth it!
