      Pro-Touring Maverick

Well here we go! I am getting started on my own Pro-Touring project. I build cars for a living at Killercustoms.ca and thought I need something a little different from the mostly GM products around the shop. I found the Maverick partially done on craigslist,it had a bunch of good parts and chassis and suspension work mostly done. The car has a 3 link rear, narrow 9",35 spline Moser axles, detroit locker 3.73 gears and Baer 13" brakes. The front is a Mustang II clip just ordered Baer Pro Plus 14" brakes. Hoping to do Rushforth 18's and 19's after some more measuring. Have a TKO 600 trans but still undecided on Motor Stroker small block or 4.6 four valve Mod Motor. Will do some body mods ie flush glass, remove drip rails side marker ets,not sure on colour. Hope to keep updates coming.

That's a late 80's Mustang dash. How did it fit?

I like the body style of the Maverick, in high school one of my friends had a 71 302 with a 3 speed on the column.

Turned out it had 289 heads on it, was pretty fast little car, looking forward to watching this build

That's the car I thought of also when I saw this post, I saw the little green Ford at the GoodGuys Joliet, IL and in the GG Gazette.

Really cool to do something Ford and something not so common, keep the pictures coming on your project!

Wow, impressed with that little green Mav, I will have to be on the lookout for one of these. I like any passed over Ford.

I will be keeping an eye on your build.

Oh, go with an all aluminum injected stroker small block. The mod motors are nice, but parts are still pricey and unless you go with a 5.4l the 4.6ls are low on cubes. So you either have to rev them or use a power adder. The aftermarket is producing some parts for them now, Trick Flow is just about to release a set of 2v heads.

We scored a grandma fresh 73 Mercury Comet off craigslist. Not too shabby of a 301 either.

Sounds cool. What 3-link is in it? Custom? I've been looking for a rear suspension to put under mine but am not willing to cut up the floor to do it.

The 3 Link is custom long arm fully adjustable and NO floor left. The center upper links come to the back of the front seat!
