Thanks guys. I think the original car had great lines to start with. I hope the changes we have made enhanced the original car. So far the response has been pretty positive.

The car has way more ground clearance than I thought it would. The lowest point is the front valance. I will have to be careful with it. It is about 4” above ground. I was a little concerned about the x pipe but it looks great. The car should be about 1/4” lower than it is now.

Exhaust over the axle is done. Just need to install the resonators and tips. The guys at Rhom Innovations are a little concerned about expansion of the stainless exhaust, particularly with the V band clamps. Since I have 3 sets of them they feel that the stainless can expand about 10% when under heat. We plan on bolting the tip to the can and allowing the tailpipes to expand in a slip joint at the tip. I appreciate this level of detail.

Getting pretty close to coming home. I need to make a couple adjustments to the firewall. I need to rehang the heater box, ECO and tranny controller before it goes back to the body shop.

I agree, the original was a beautiful design but with what yours has become I will never look at them the same!

Did you consider using different coilovers in the front, that allow for a temporary lift (like KW makes them, for example) to clear speedbumps, curbstones and such?
Also, did you use the complete spoiler from the Crossfire, or just the mechanics and put a custom piece on there so it fits?

A couple years ago I was considering some JRI ride height adjustable shocks but decided against it for cost reasons. That system is pretty expensive but would solve the problem. That was also when I was trying to use the old suspension system so they wouldn't have worked with this setup anyways. I will likely see how it is when the car is done before jumping to the new parts bin. I may be lucky and just be able to adjust my approach angles to steep driveways.

The rear spoiler only uses the mechanicals from the Crossfire spoiler. The sheet metal skin was fabricated to fit the contour of the body then fixed to the spoiler. There were a couple small mods that were made to the support bracket on the plate that mounts to the sheet metal. It was extended to give full support to the spoiler.

The exhaust is done. It turned out great but I was not able to have the resonators next to the fuel tank. There just wasn’t space.

We are waiting for the radiator core to arrive. That is the last big item to finish up before coming home and doing some work here.

Progress............. haven’t said that in a while. LOL! It may be ready to come home later this week for miscellaneous items before going back to the body shop.

The story continues... Earlier today I made a deal on a Bosch M4 ABS setup. (Thanks Craig!) It is the same setup used by professional race teams. It is adjustable and totally customizable. It will take a little more effort and money to make the modification, but should be well worth it. The car will have traction control and anti-lock brakes. It will be fast, handle like no other and now stop on a dime with a nickel in change.

I hadn't researched it, but didnt realize there were stand-alone ABS kits. Good to know!

The Bosch setup is pretty cool. I have decided to convert to a floater rear end to help with sensor accuracy for the ABS/traction control and safety reasons. It will be a better car when done because of it. A call to Strange Engineering and Wilwood and I am now waiting for parts.

A little more progress on the radiator. Still needs the steam vent, petcock and mount for my overflow tank but it is close.

You can see a little bit of the crossbar that supports the shock hoops. That will receive some triangulation to the firewall as well as some dimple die support. Really close to coming home for more work before paint.

Is that radiator bigger than I expected or are those some small fans?

      I love this build.

The fans are 10”. The radiator is 24” wide and not sure the height. Way bigger than stock or what I had before. This should be more than adequate for the car. In addition to the oil and transmission cooler hidden below the headlights I now will have a power steering cooler. I will need that for track days. It will be mounted in front of the radiator and below the condenser.

This car will be pretty chill.

How about some header porn. Such a tight fit but pretty close to equal length.

The shock tower bracing is done. Pretty much ready to come home for me to work on it. I can’t wait to get my hands dirty again.

Here is a cool blog post by the shop that helped me with the chassis mods on my car. They did so much work and did an amazing job. It is home now and I am setting up all the plumbing, wiring, e brake and a butt load of other items. I hope to be done with my part by the first of the year..
