      "Just Peachy" 80 Porsche 928 LS376/525

Picked up a 1979 Porsche 928 that was wrecked. The car was stored indoors all of it's 34 years & had only 12,178 miles on her. The 79 will be used primarily for the like new, funky, pascha interior, wiring harness, etc. Picked up an 1980 roller just north of Dallas primarily for the shell, unibody, & suspension pieces. Stripped the 80 then sent it out for paint. Shaved the side moldings, side marker lights, rear wiper, door locks, headlight squirters, etc. Ordered a new LS376/525 (injected) motor then found a good used (16,000 mile)T-56 out of a 2004 Z06. The Piranha Bros fabricated a custom rear crossmember & trans mount. Stay tuned. 77tony

Yeah, hatch lock was inoperable when the 80 roller was picked up. How about painters tape-hopefully will keep from scratching the fresh paint. T

Always wanted to do an LS 928. Any details on the torque tube, rear end mods to make the vette parts work?

Glad y'all like. Dinsdale of the infamous "Piranha Bros" is the lead on this build. Dinsdale fabricated a rear crossmember and trans mount. Custom cut chrome molly axles and bell housing adapter plate by xchop for the 928 - Vette T56. T

      Modify Oil Pan ?

Purchased the Holley LS Retro fit oil pan P/N 302-1.Looks like we need to either raise the motor approx 1.25" to clear the crossmember or cut the pan 1.25". Would rather cut the pan if not to much trouble to keep the engine lower in the bay and keep the center of gravity lower. This would also provide clearance on the top of the motor and the top crossmember. Has anyone cut & welded these cast aluminum pans without to much difficulty ? I do have access to a Tig Welder. TIA. 77tony

I like the color you chose. Cutting and welding on the cast aluminum pans is no big deal. Before all the swap pans and various pan options came about, that's what people did to make these engines fit. In your case, I would be worried about oil drain back into the sump. You'll be making a dam in the oil pan essentially if you just cut a notch into the pan.

Can you not redesign that portion of the cross member instead of just notching it?

      Good luck.
