Plumbing Ricks Tank return line with Ricks Tank intank fuel pump

So I have a 383 CARBURATED small block and have a ricks SS tank with an in tank pump. The system that was in it had an electric external pump with fuel cell and a return line that came straight off the fuel pump back to the fuel cell. There was then a fuel filter inline on the way to the motor and a regulator which split into both sides of the carb. So my question is how do I plumb the RICKS tank..

      1. Do I run a line from the new tank to the regulator with the inline fuel filter attached run a new fuel line from the regulator to the carb with a return end to run a hose back to the tank?

      OR

      2. Put a tee at the line of the tank and run a return line back to the tank from there allowing me to keep in tact the existing plumbing that goes to the regulator and dead head the carb at both ends? Someone told me that this is what I should do for ease of installation but how does the line pressurize if I put the return right at the beginning of the fuel line??
