I agree with the stroker kit...might as well since it is out. Good luck with everything!

Chevy High Performance has the Monte Carlo in the May issue with the OUSCI coverage. This is the sixth time it's been in print and Car Craft has yet to run the feature shot in July. Gives Josh and I a great feeling to see this exposure. Sure wonder what will be shown March 10 on SPEED as part of the OUSCI program. Make sure you tune in.

If any luck I should have the engine back in a couple weeks. Sticking with the LS1 and stroking it to 383 or 6.3L. Stroker kit is coming from Callies. Hope to have it back in a couple weeks. This kit should create close to 600hp.

Got word this week that the feature Car Craft shot in July will run in a bi-annual magazine called Car Craft Engine Swaps. It will be on bookshelves April 30. I think John said it was 7 pages.

With the Schwartz chassis the engine/transmission sit lower and rearward compared to the stock chassis with a LS swap that I have seen. I can hardly slip my hand between the intake and the firewall. No modification of the firewall or floor pan was need. I did notch the AC box because the valve cover hit. A lower stance should not make a difference.

Well I finally have the LS383 back in the Monte and it fire right up. Sound great with 60 psi of oil pressure. That's 20 psi more than the LS1 had and there is no piston slap when the engine is cold. The Mahle pistons in the LS1 were quite loud until they got heat in them. Can't wait for the first drive. Snow is in the forecast for Thursday. Yes, May 2.

Put 25 miles on it this a.m I can't believe how much more quite and smoother it is than the previous LS1. Maybe that's why it failed with only 5000 miles on it.

I need to adjust the timing, had a ping under load. Also with 11:1 compression I'm not sure what fuel I put in last down in Florida. I'll back the timing down and change the curve a little and see what it does. I could really feel the torque increase from the stroker kit. Overall I'm very please. I really need to put some miles on it before Heidts event next weekend.

Was looking at the wheels you have & wondering if you are using a 5x120mm or if you found them in 5x4.75" bolt circles.

      thanks

So did you take your car out in the snow today for another test drive? I live in cedar rapids and all of my snow went up north to you, the weather is saying 2 inches tonight tho and 60 degree weather on sunday, the weather this year is unreal.

We have a couple inches now. With all the snow just west of us, Charles City had 6" this morning, I think the tes for the weekend will be adjusted downward. Are you coming to the car show Sunday in Waterloo at the casino? I'll have the Monte there.

The summer issue of Engine Swap by Car Craft Magazine has a 6 page feature of the Monte Carlo. This was shot in St Paul last July. Makes Josh and I very proud to have built this car and receive so much attention. I know the Schwartz chassis helps but that is just one part of the package.

Had a pretty awesome weekend with Chevy High Performance magazine at Atlanta Dragway last weekend. We left Thursday afternoon and returned Monday morning on a 34 hour round trip to play with the Monte. My wife is from NW Geargia so she got some family time.

Friday night Chevy High Peformance did a photo shoot for an upcoming feature and on Saturday I won the Shootout on the Jet Hot autocross. Had a lot to do with the luck of the draw and Brian Finch throwing in the towel in the semi finals. Ran down the 1/4 mile for the first time 12.67@107mph. Poor traction and 2-3 shift.

This was the only G-body on the autocross and impressed a lot of people. The Scwhartz chassis's was working very well on a tight course.
