Nice installation...seems like a smaller, more compact version of the early 2nd gen F-body EEC system. Cool piece!

      John,
I love the detail and thought you put into everything. I truly enjoyed watching/helping you build the trans crossmember for unfair at the old prodigy shop.

I am using the ridetech fuel filler with a vaporworx tank in my 1st gen camaro. It comes with a vent port. Any ideas on using that instead of the vent port on the tank? I just don't have the room in my trunk to instal your vent.

      Hi Rolf,

      Thanks! I remember that day.

I want my steering wheel back!

Yes the vent port on the fill tube can work, but it's important for the entire Fuel Vent to be above that port. The device depends on gravity for proper function.

John, I'm having a hard time understanding what the difference is between a normal pleated paper fuel vent and the one that your shop makes. Is there a carbon element to absorb the vapors? Obviously, yours looks much better. I'm just trying to understand what practical advantage this unit has.

Also, I just got finished ordering a new bearing and seal for one of the axle shafts on my rear end because the pleated paper vent I put on there got saturated with gear oil. Pressure built up and blew out the seal. I only picked-up on this when I began hearing a high-pitched whining noise coming from the back right side of the car.

I don't quite understand your question. What is a "normal pleated paper fuel vent"? Do you mean a breather filter?

Our vent functions by acting as a reservoir to capture liquid gasoline and to allow it to return back to the tank. It controls smell by providing condensation surfaces for the gasoline vapor to condense into liquid, and then flow back to the tank instead of evaporating into the atmosphere. There's no charcoal involved.

It will do an excellent job for your rear end as well. There's nothing to get saturated, no moving parts, and no paper.

      Hope that helps.

Any reason a "T" could not be put directly into the filter canister, then both rearend & fuel tank be plumbed into just one?

Never mind....brain fart....guess we do not want cross contamination!

That won't work, because the fluid flowing back from the reservoir will contaminate the other. You'll have gas in the rear end, and diff fluid in your gas tank.

Sounds more like a rowdy college experience.

Put me down for one. It's the best one out there, and I've been beating the bushes trying to find a good solution. The tank (actually the chassis) design for our cars does not lend themselves well to EVAP system adaptation.

Pricing should be locked down in about a week. We're just making a few final tweaks to the design.

John and I hate "vapor-ware" as much as the next guy, so we really wanted to hold off on any product announcements until pricing and the first production run was complete. Unfortunately we underestimated how much time we would spend testing and tweaking the design and the Grass Roots Motorsports story hit the shelf before we had completed the first production run.

We're expecting final manufacturing price any day now. Retail pricing will follow that.

John: Do fumes that escape the vent get released under the car?

I run JP's vent (Older style now) on my car--it fixed my gas stench issue nicely. Figures you upgrade it right after I put it in. But hey, lucky me--got a new rearend coming for the car as you know--gonna need another vent solution---so I will end up with one of these new ones anyways--lol.

I would highly reccomend JP's stuff---can take pics of it installed in my 69 for anyone that would like to see it.

I too have a nice collection of JP items taking place in my garage. I can't afford to know you much longer.

Hey John, is there any inherent difference in an EFI application and a carb'd application for EVAP needs? Or is this maybe more about usage and fuel movement (ie track days, etc)? I just ask because I was under my car this weekend and was looking at the factory EVAP lines and I'm trying to figure out why I would need to change it if I were to go EFI. Thanks.
