      covertible top and DSE tubs!

I have a 68 covert camaro. I interested in the Dse mini tubs, but my concerns are towards my convert top frame. I've seen several with the tubs, and the top doesn't fold completely down behind the rear seat. Myself, plus a few friends would like to tackle this project! Any tips????? also, I have a power top!

You have to make one of the bars a little longer and a different offset.

This will let the top to sit back down where it needs to.
Cant remember my sign on name on photo bucket, when I do I will post a few pictures.

I would appreciate that. Did you also shorten the length of the structure support panel(back seat secures itself to.Separates trunk and interior space.)? If you did, then stock seats need to be modified, right?

Chris did (is doing) a vert in the shop now and (IIRC) he modified (flattened) the top of the tubs to help as well

on my 69 chevelle conv. i just finished. we made our own tubs and flattened out the top just like the original tubs.but we forgot 1 thing. the first 2 bars on the back of the top are more narrow than the others and slide past the tubs.when we got finished with the top it stuck up almost 5 inches past the trim.we used late model corvette material on the top which added thickness.we had put that frame up a bunch of times and it always went down a few inches below the trim.i am just giving you this info so you know what to look for on your camaro. greg

Im in the final stages of a 67 convert.......no mods to the top itself or the frame work of the top.......but i did have to bash the sh&$!! out of the top of the tubs to flatten them so that the frame would sit flat. Other than that and the shock relocation i had no problems.
Send me your email and Ill send some pics...I tried to take some pretty detailed ones because some friends were doing the mod right after I figured it out.

The tubs are pretty straight forward install. After you finish welding everything you
will need to FOLD the lip on the top of the wheel housing. It should look just like the factory did it.
The top will not sit flat unless you make a set of custom bars or beat the top of the tubs way down.
Doesn't look nice. PM me if you are interested in a set.

I'll load up a few picture in a few mins.

I have a 63 nova vert. I had to modify my DSE tubs so they would have the same contours as the stock. Not only flat on the top but they bow out to the side as well.
Here is a link to my build pics.
