How much radiator is too much?

Most vendors of aluminum radiators list a manual and automatic unit but not a seperate SBC or BBC version. Am I to understand that one size radiator is used for both SB and BB applications or does it not make any difference?

it all depends on how it is built. If a radiator is the bare minimum for a small block, then it would need to be larger for a big block. But, if the radiator is designed to cool a big block, then it will also work for a small block. A good radiator company will want to know what the motor size is, as well as if it has been bored (and how much), if it is naturally aspirated, where you live (climate / elevation), and also how you drive the car. Each of those things will play a part in how your set up needs to be cooled.

Heck a lot of people think it takes a huge radiator to cool an engine but my 86 Ranger w/350 chevy ,was cooled by a 4cyl non ac radiator. Go figure it huh?
