I shed a tear when you first cut into that car but the way it's turning out is how they should have built it! It's just a sexy car.

Like I said from the begining, this was a challenge for me to make an AMC that was attractive. In my mind American Motors was a company full of almosts. The company was almost successful, they built a few cars that were almost cool, I'm just doing a few body mods to take them to the cool finish line. Now if I could only figure out a way to make plaid interior cool

With full frame cars with really flat bottoms, it becomes difficult to run #8 fuel line, and brake lines from the front of the car to the rear. I welded sleeves through the sections of the frame for them to pass through, in the long section I built a 2"x2" pocket for the the the lines to pass through. The utility raceway starts in the engine bay just below the steering column, and terminates at the fuel tank, the little bubble that I welded to the ceiling of the raceway are just a method to attach the lines with aluminum zip ties.

My fear of all that tubing has finally been checked. as much as it scared me I put it on the scales. 2111pounds, so I figure by the time I put guts in the motor and rear, clutch etc, with me in the seat will be 3000ish pounds

I'm sorry to bear that Ron. I hope it all works out. Family is way more important than some hunk of steel

This is a really neat project. Looked at the concept pic vs the original untouched pic way at the beginning, and that's subtle enough to really mess with AMC fans. Their eyes are going to pick out that the car's not right, but their brains aren't going to be able to figure out WHY it's not right, and it's not going to occur to them that the wheels are in the wrong place.

There would be a gold stripe right under the side glass, or you could run the black down to the bodyline along the center of the door.
