But now I need to get the 2004r in as I keep waiting for the upshift to fourth at around 60mpg!

Unfortunately, the rear end was rebuilt several years ago and I have a slight leak from the pinion seal. I stopped it once before by spraying trans-x around the pinion shield when it was in storage. Hope it works again.

We're sick of cold and snow. Here's to Spring and cruisin'/autox our oldsmobiles. ;)
I'm with you on that Gus. The high here today is only 30 and we are officially in spring. I'll pick up my housing this evening, then take it home and remove the hubs, rotors and calipers. I want to have it painted by the weekend, but I have to leave town for work on Sunday so I'm not so sure.
Hopefully I'll be able to get ride of my Olds "12bolt". I have a couple people doing resto's that are interested

Yeah, I gotta sell my Olds "12 bolt" too. Basically useless for anything other stronger than a stock big block. I read somewhere that some 442's actually came with chevy 12 bolts for the added strength. btw, I meant 60 mph, not 60 mpg. But I'm sure you figured that out though.

Yep, I knew what you meant...lol The part I hate the most is someone actually removed an 8.5 to put this stupid rear end in my car. What really helped me make my decision was I knew I would never have a rear that was worth anything despite all the money necessary to make it reliable. I was also going to need spacers to accomdate the Z06 calipers in the rear, this was eliminated by using the floater.

I didn't think it was fair to show the finished housing without showing what my buddy did to setup before welding. He just sent me some pics that he took along the way, so I could have them for my build. He's one of the most thorough and meticulous guys I know, but I guess you should be if you're an engineer.

      Setup on his work bench

To make sure the rotors were centered, he shimmed the pins. Notice where he wrote his measurements on the calipers.

And of course the finished product.

I cleaned and primed the housing last night, so it may be done before I take my trip. In a test mount, I did find the dust caps Moser uses will not allow the wheel to mount flush. I ordered another pair from Joe's Racing that should do the trick.

Here was my situation with the dust cap. Apparently Moser changed the design and the new design would not fit inside the center cap of my Rushforth's.

I ordered some smaller caps from Joe's racing that are the same shape as the drive plates. I could have gone with some cheapo's from Speedway or Summit, but I just liked the finish and fit of these.

I snapped a pic of my headers when dropped them off at QC Coatings on Friday. I'm going for the polished ceramic coating. I was told a 7-10 days as its their busy season. I've seen their work, so I'm sure I will be satisfied.

I also received my remote PS reservoir. I got the idea for this particular tank from Protour73(Scott). The quality was excellent, it also comes with AN fittings and a Wix filter installed.

Made a little progress on the car this weekend. I couldnt use the dustcaps I purchased from Jones racing as they were too small. in diameter. I was able to get someone to mill down the original Moser dust caps for a small fee.

I put the new rotors on the front. Currently I just went with Autozone replacements to get the car on the road. After I work out all the bugs, these will be replaced with something more appropriate for track and auto-x.

I pulled the Olds type "O" rear then installed my new Varishocks, adjustable upper control arms and Moser floater rear.

Car should settle once tank and interior is added.

I would love to put some 305's on the rear, but its going to depend on the budget

No major updates, but I did drop my trans off at the builder on Sun. He's a buddy of my friend. I'm hoping he gives me a good price...lol

Here are pics of the headers I picked up yesterday from the coater. The place is QC Coatings in Shelby Township, MI. You see them mentioned here a lot when people ask for places other than Jet-Hot for ceramic coating. Very friendly with excellent customer service...
