I haven't been to MPH but I've run the SORC deal with the optima cats. It's an amazing program that's not gotten nearly the respect or exposure it deserves! Glad you all were able to enjoy it.

I never did take the numbers off my car either. Those '113' numbers on my wagon are from SORC 2009- they just look too cool to peel off. I ran 129+ mph in the half-mile deal with the old setup.

      Great pics and video too!

We had a great time running the optima Power Summit. We are already discussing how we are going to get in next year. I made a lot of new friends.

I think most were a little nervous until the flag waved. Once that happened, I know I wished we were in a faster class.

We left the numbers on the Corvette for this weekends event, Corvettes at Carslile.

      Steve,

I believe you will get a laugh or two out of the attached movie. It was great to hang out with you and my boy blue really enjoyed driving Penny. I worked 6 hours this past Sunday on cleaning the carnage from the engine compartment and grille. I still have several hours left on the Boze Mesh wheels...clearly grasshopper killing wheels. David and I had a great trip back to GA and I plan to return to Nebraska next year. My plan is drive my Corvair....again thanks for some great laughs.

Thanks to everybody who signed my SORC shirt. I really appreciate all of my friends thinking of me in my absence. Although, I was pretty busy planning ways to tunnel out of high school and escape to Nebraska.

I can speak for all of us here at the Sandhills Open Road Challenge when I say that we were very pleased to meet all of the new folks who were here with the optima Power Summit. The comments made on this forum about the SORC are greatly appreciated and make us want to host an even better event in 2012. Several people expressed a desire to enter in 2012 and wanted to know how to submit an entry. This link explains the entry procedure http://www.sorcrace.com/how-to-enter...challenge-race. Please keep in mind that we fill our grid very within a couple days after we begin accepting entries so it is best to have your entry postmarked on the first Monday in October (October 3.) Please come join us again.

Thanks for stopping by Joe and for explaining the procedure to get in on your own to the SORC. I speak for everyone here when I say we all had a blast at SORC and we all want to come back again. I hope you pass around the video that Brad(yes the winner of the 91mph class) made, it should fit right in with all the other funny ones you guys have made over the years.
Welcome to Protouring and we look forward to seeing you again.

New Event being added to the SORC for 2012

Sandhills is adding a 2 Stage, 28 mile warmup race on Thursday for 2012, the "Loup 2 Loup", to go with Friday's mile shout out and Saturday's 55 mile ORR. Mapquest a route between Halsey, NE and Purdum,NE to see the road.

Classes for the new ORR will be 75 mph, 85 mph and 95 mph and you have to have successfully run the 115 or faster at Arnold to enter the 95 mph. Tech speed will only be 120 for 85 and 95, and only 100 for the 75 mph class. The road apears to be hilly and much tighter than the current SORC road.

This will be a good shake down race to prepare for the SORC, instead of using the shoutout as a shakedown run. It's really hard to break in a navigator in the mile shoutout.

Since its the same group of people that put on the "1/2 mile grudge races" at the Thedford Airport a few years ago, it should be a lot of fun. Entry details are still being worked out, but it appears they don't want it too big for the first year and ease into a hundred + car field in subsequent years.
