      Staying cool

I finally finished up my fan install and tested it today. It's 101 with a heat index of 104, right now. It's hot! I swapped my old clutch fan with no shroud for a 2 speed mark viii fan. I recently replaced my radiator with a griffin, too. I got a 160* thermostat, because I used 180* and 195* temp switches in the heads.

Idling in the yard, the low speed comes on and off. Fantastic! I unplugged the low temp sensor until the high speed came on and plugged it back in, and all works as it should (fan goes from high to low then off). I started with a 180* thermostat, and the low speed would not turn off. It's perfect with the 160. The voltage only drops from 14 to 13.5 at idle with the cs130 alternator. I highly recommend this fan. It fit my radiator perfect, and doesn't make much noise, either.

I have this same fan on my 64 Impala. You won't find another fan that pulls this much cfm for $100.
