Headers in a 66 Mustang fastback

I am having some issues regarding finding a set of headers to fit my car.
I am looking for a set of long tube jet hot coated headers that will fit:
1966 Mustang fastback with a FRPP 347 450hp "Z" alum. head crate engine.
The car has a cable clutch and a blowproof bellhousing.
Any suggestions/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
      Thanks,
      Scott

I assume your problem is related to the fact that the Z head exhaust ports are raised. I could not find any info on how much they are raised but I would guess they are not more that 1/8". This might not be enough to cause problem with an already good fitting long tube header. Also a shorty header by design would not be as effected as much as a long tube would with raised ports.

I had Hedman long tubes on the previous engine in my 68 coupe. They fit ok except for the fact that they were too low to the ground and would scrape occasionally on speed bumps and such. With my new engine I went with JBA shorties since the car is now lowered and would have been even worse with long tubes.

IMO the JBA headers are the best fitting for the early Mustangs. But that fit comes with a price as the shorties are $500+ and the long tubes are over $1000. You might call them to see what they think about fit for your combo. I know they will custome make and/or modify a header for you if necessary.

You might also want to search to see if anyone make a specific header
for TrickFlow Hi-ports heads as these also have raised exhaust ports.

Also, Dallas Mustang Parts builds and sells 66 coupes as the "Terlingua DM-450" http://www.dallasmustang.com/index.mvc?s=dm450 this car uses the same crate motor you are using and they use some tri-y design from Stans Headers http://www.stans-headers.com/

I found some headers that were designed for my application.
      www.fordperformance.com
They designed a set of long tube headers that are ceramic coated
      (inside and outside).
