Check out http://www.bikesdirect.com/ - they have non "Brand-Name" bikes that have pretty decent parts on them for a great price.

I have been contemplating triathalons recently. Never done much real biking. A 100 mile ride down the coast to San Diego, at a leisurely pace is the most I have done. I was a competetive swimmer from age 8, LA Caounty Jr Lifeguard, etc and have always been an athlete, so running is something I have always done. But @ 6'9" 250 lbs (and that is a lean weight), I am considered a Clydsdale in running circles. It isn't great on my joints to try and train for a 26 miler, so Ironmans are out. There are smaller tris that do 1 mile swim, 25 mile ride and 10 mile run (or similar distances) that I could probably do with a minimum of increase to my training regimen. I have 3 competitive marathon runners in my circle and one guy who loves him some mud runs! Those are a lot of fun as well.
That mud runs seems fun. I wish they had a mud tri mud running, mud biking, muddin (4x4) lmao... plius with the weight thing nick I agree fully. when it comes to anything time weight is not really a good thing unless you are going down hill, at 240ish i understand you fully

Right now I’m training for the DRC 1/2 Marathon in Dallas, TX in November. But also I’m doing some workouts for my 1st (Sprint) Triathlon in 2012. Here’s a picture of my gear. Well, part of my gear.

In this picture I’m wearing the Neosport NRG Triathlon wetsuit (short sleeveless).

And here’s my weapon of choice:

Carbon Pro Bianco II Frame (Made in Italy)

      Carbon Fork

      ITM Handlebar, Stem, Seatpost

      FSA Crankset 52/42/30T

      FSA Brakes

      Shimano Gear Components:
      microSHIFT Levers
      FD-5504 front Derailleur
      microSHIFT rear Derailleur
      HG-93 Chain
      CS6500 Cassette 12/25T

      Shimano PD-R540 Pedals

Profile Design Bottle Holders (Frame & Seat)

      Selle Italia Seat

      Wheelset Training:
      Shimano WH-RS10 with
      Vittoria Zaffino Tires 25-622

      Wheelset Racing:
      GIPIEMME T-Quattro 30L with
      Hutchinson Atom Tires 23-622

      Total weight: ~20.3lbs.

Bike is not fully assembled yet.

You got the question how Triathlon and “saving sharks” fit together?

Well, all I can say is it fits perfectly

ANYBODY out there can make a difference and change the world!!!

I began during the summer just gone.
A good way of getting into it is to start with a "Sprint Triathlon".

The last one i did was a 750 metre swim then a 20km cycle and finished up with a 5km run. Not a walk in the park at the same time.

I used to run everyday - did 10k's, 15k's Marathons, TriAthlons. But I had my left knee replaced last year, so no more running. I still dream about it so I'm a bit jealous of you guys.

I try to bike at least 5 times a week still.
