      Project: StreetSmart '69 Camaro 416 LS3

Picked up a '69 Camaro that had complete rotisserie in 2008

Then I picked up complete drivetrain from a 2011 Camaro, which ironically now will be in the for sale section as soon as I get 50 posts

Picked up 416 LS3 bottom end last night, and more toys rolled in today. MAST heads / cam, pushrods, Katech single timing chain, LS7 lifters, lifter trays, FAST102 intake, FAST102 Throttle body, GM headgaskets, ARP head bolts, and some misc sensors

Good start man! Is that Jason's 416 bottom end he had for sale? Those Mast heads are like artwork...

      Any plans for the suspension/wheels/brakes?

The OP is very talented and well versed in installing LSx motors in vintage cars. I can't wait to see how this one turns out.

Got the bottom end on the engine stand

Quickly realized the main caps were missing outer bolts

Got some more parts, cam came in

      LS7 lifters

      lifter trays

ARP hardware for outer main bolts, and a kit from SDPC with all the plugs and dowel pins a bare block needs

      arp head bolts

started putting everything together, one head is on

      Mast heads intake ports

      RPM Level5 4L60E showed up

      Precision 3200 stall converter

first shot of the motor in the car

three engine mount plates later, finally found one that puts the American Racing 1 7/8 headers where they need to be

Modified truck accessory bracket by cutting off idler that will interfere with car intake. Had the bracket blasted and powdercoated, then i couldnt just put a factory power steering pump in. Had to sand it down, primer, paint silver, and clearcoat

mounted idler relocation bracket, had it powdercoated as well

Injectors came in for the fast intake, had to make some 1" spacers for the fuel rail though

Oil pressure sending unit for the New Vintage gauges was interfering with the back of the intake, nothing a trip to Lowes can't fix

I used LS1 camaro water pump and pulled the pulley 1/2" forward to line up with the truck accessories

mocking up FAST102, looks like nothing else is in the way

      stay tuned

Nope, nothing hits the firewall. The closest thing is the connector on the map sensor in the back of the intake, its really long and at a 45deg angle away from the manifold.

I did ran into a problem with dipstick tube not going all the way down into the motor, dropped the pan and found out its hitting the S&P modified pickup tube. I cut 1/2" off of the tube and bolted it to the motor, then the dipstick itself would not fit in the space between the windage tray and pickup tube. I spaced down my windage tray by two washers to clear the rod bolts, this likely added to the problem. Clearanced the windage tray a bit with a long flat screw driver and a hammer, and tightened the oil pan back up.

Then got dissapointed with my brand new American Racing Headers.. The o2 bungs are pointing straight at the trans with no room for the o2 to fit at all

Finally got the alternator today, tried installing it and found a few new interference problems.. Fuel crossover had to be moved to the back of the intake, there was an extra evap? vacuum connection on the drivers side behind the throttle body that had to get cut and capped, otherwise everything went fine. Measured for the belt size, and we're in business!

also mounted my catch can, routed hoses, and cappped off extra ports on the intake

Probobly worth noting that LS1 camaro ignition coils/brackets I had did not clear the break booster. I also had a set of 2004 truck coils/brackets and those cleared just fine, mosly because looks like truck coils/brackets are mounted higher on the valve cover then camaro coils.
