Funny. No, I see some custom machining and fixture TIG welding to adapt the attachment point to SAE threads on my Z06. For Unfair, I might need to get some metric tube end inserts.

Happened to drive the car to work today so here is a quick vid of the tow hook on the car and removing it. I tend to leave it on the car otherwise I'd probably lose it in my black hole garage ha ha

Just to add the revised bar has an additonal locking pin to make it technically permanent.

Rennline indeed makes very nice stuff.. Porsche tax included. I remember buying their aluminum pedals (second hand, mind you) and they were still over $200. I much prefer buying parts for our "cheap" Camaros and such. LOL

Wow, $140 for a fancy eye-bolt? I'll stick to the $20 TRS straps.

Well Bret.. if anyone's car could use a tow hook it sure would be Doug's...

So, I can commision you to make something that cool for BP? I have an aftermarket frame, so it's a bit different.

I have several designs which include the 67 and 68 model years along with a rear mount. In addition each tow hook comes in chromoly 4130, mild steel and/or aluminum. However the aluminum has a lower rating but is designed with a little more Bling.

I also will make custom tow hooks at the request and design of the customer.

Unfortunately, I typically build stuff on a one off basis. Each of my projects are typically hand made and are produced at the customers request. I have a few car related items that could be reproduced in quantity if enough people are interested (sometimes I feel this waters down the artistic approach I take to making things).

So for starters, I present the Doug Renner tow hook. Offered in 4130 or mild steel in a limited run only. A similar version is designed for the 67 and 68 with a slight different cut and bend.

Brett - that is killer man. Very nice work. I like your desire to do things more individually than to mass produce.

I am emailing you on that now!

Many thanks to Brett for the offer on such short notice and actually doing it while Chad and I hung around asking him all sorts of questions. Brett had the hook on and off the car more than 4 times to ensure that everything fit spot on and that the eye sat where we wanted it. One of the main considerations was the space between the eye and the bumper---enough clearance was given so that the actual tow "hook", when put through the eye, would have plenty of clearance so as not to hammer the bumper when attaching. Lot's of time was given to the details by Brett and it is a really clean setup. Thanks again brother---you got skills. Still hoping I will not have to put it to the test.

I was going to add some pics, but you've got all of the good ones here already. Thanks again bro---I really appreciate it.

      Doug
