proper way to build custom gauge housing

Hey guys, I am trying to come up with a way to fabricate my gauge housing but cannot figure out how to attack it. What do you guys do when fabbing something like this? What methods, metals, welding techniques. Here is what I have a 65 Nova Dash that I am trying to make recessed for 2 7" LCD screens. The problem I am having is the metal is to flimsy and has to many ripples or does not follow the temp correctly.

      Thanks

What do you mean by "does not follow the temp correctly?"

It looks like you're off to a good start.

You may have to fabricate a bracket that holds the LCDs and then is bolted to the back of the housing that you have made. Most LCD screens that I have used have a couple 1/4-20 or so size mounting holes that would allow a bracket to be bolted to and then use that to attach to the dash.

if you're getting waves and such in the metal torching it might also be part of the problem, metal does warp when heated, especially unevenly.
