Project Spectre - Bring the rain

OK so I'm going to start my build thread. I hope this will keep me motivated enough to continue work on it. This is a father son build. I got this car for my oldest son this Christmas.

My son and I talked it over about our plans. We like the Chicayne (Troy built car from 2003) look so maybe we'll go for that.

This won't be a high calliber build like alot of the ones I follow on here but it will be more of a poor man's build. I know Chicayne is far from low budget but we'll see what we can do. We'll use as many production parts as we can.

      Our car is a 63 Fairlane 500 with a 289 2 speed auto.

First thing is to repair the rusty front frame so we can put it on the road and begin collecting parts.

Next is to begin adapting a 2000 Mustang front suspension on the Fairlane. If anyone has experience in this area please let me know.

Sorry haven't updated in a while. Me and my boys have been building a 66 Chevy truck.

We did begin installing a new electronic distributor in the 289. The points distributor took a little effort to get out. I ended up tieing it to my cherry picker, lifting the car up (yes the distributor was carrying the weight of the front of the car) and smacking it with a dead blow hammer several times before it gave way and came out.

Ford distibutors can be a pain to get out sometimes! You might want to check with Mustangs Unlimited on a front frame section...could save you some fab time, and they are fairly inexpensive. Nice project!
