I love the string method as you can lay out and get an almost exact length you will need when you cut your wire.

Marty, are you missing a plastic clip that holds the rod on the door handle?

Nope it's there but the dang thing keeps falling off and yes I am going to order a new one before I put the door panels on for the last time.

Honestly I think it's the third time it has fallen off for me and Kenny had the same issue.

      All about Hose Clamps

So, I have had a few questions about the hose clamps that I had mocked up on the car. I figure I would share all of the different options that I found and if you have anything that you want to share please feel free to share it.

      Tessa Tape & Vintage Air (( 03-13-21 ))

At some point I know I will be nearing the end of all of this wiring fun. But for now it's been an awesome
learning experience and the help along the way has been awesome.

I wanted a way to tighten up the loom/grommet area to reduce the chances of water getting in. An wiring
guru friend taught me this trick. It double as a way to seal up the hole and keep the harness from moving.
Start your wrap on one side of the grommet and the make a couple passes on the area you want the grommet
to sit and them side the grommet over the area. Once you install the grommet start taping the opposing
side and it will secure the grommet in place and reduce your chances of a leak.

I put a little silicone on the back of the fitting bracket to hold the trim plate in place and also seal up any gap that may allow water to sneak in.

Somewhere way back in this thread is the part number for the Machines Washers from Ace Hardware and also the part number for similar washers from McMaster Carr.

The fun part was me sticking my arm through the hole to get the nuts started. Once they were snug I was
able to go inside the car and tighten them with a socket. I also used a smaller ratchet so I wouldn't over tighten the nuts.

      Name: 20210612001125-6ea1e6b9-me.jpg

If you have sound deadening on the inside of the car make sure you move it out of the way as it will eventually allow
the nuts to loosen when it soften up in the heat.

I also wanted to make sure I would be able to get to the nuts on the hose clamps if I ever need to service
them. So I adjusted the line clamp so the nuts would be clearly visible if I removed the kick panels.

Are you worried that you won’t be able to get that masking tape off? Is that the tape with the orange back? Those I think are less sticky. I had a really bad experience with this masking tape. I left it on for several months and now can’t get it off

It’s actually painters tape and I am planning on removing some of it today. Let’s cross our fingers and hope it comes off.
