Since the rubber isolator strips were in my garage attic and there was some duct tape nearby. I taped the straps so I wouldn't scratch up the tank.

Since I plan to install an access door I took a few measurements so I could figure out where to cut the hole in the trunk floor.

I was gonna say, he needs to ask 3M about sponsorship!

Marty, might stop by a paint shop / supplier and ask about the different wraps they're using to protect body panels. Might could save you time/money instead of using individual rolls of tape.

I'm happy with my Tanks Inc tank (Holley) but just pay attention to the vents. At some point I'm going to have to put a burp tank or something on mine, always seems to get gas in the lines any time I'm over 3/4 full. Might run oversize hose to allow air to get by the fuel when it sloshes in? I did have the rollover valve inline but gas kept on getting up to it, closing it, and pressure would build in the tank until it was overpowering the seals. I removed it and just live w/ smelling fuel every once in a while. (1964 stock vent technology has it loop through the trunk for rollover leak prevention, then exits into the pass rear wheelwell)

While you have the driveline apart, grab a Sonnax hardened yoke. Couldn't hurt with your power level/traction. Had to put one in my chevelle to keep from twisting it.

Thank you very much and the good news is I am trying to build a giant tape ball with all of the tape I have removed so the tape will not go to waste.

I wonder if those round cork looking gaskets can handle ethanol. Cork gaskets generally can't.

Actually I am hoping Andrew will chime in on this one.

I know that I am supposed to you a sealer with these as they tent to leak from what I read.

Also, Rob Ida posted a picture of a Holley EFI tank pump assemble that was killed by Ethanol.

Drilling Holes in my Floor (( 09-30-20 ))

I am sure I am not the only one that doesn't like drilling a hole in the floor.

But since it has to be done in order to mount the filter/regulator so here we go.

I was able to drill 3 out of 4 from the underside of the car. However, one of them I had to drill from inside the trunk.

Fast Forward Two Weeks Later and I am not really happy (( 10-11-20 ))

I took a couple days off the car and finally was able to get a few rides in on the one of my Fat Bikes. I upgraded the fork & tires and man what a difference it has made.

Looking back I should have installed the exhaust and the fuel tank before I mounted the Filter/Regulator. I am not really happy with how close the line is to the tailpipe. Either way I plan to install the DEI heat shield over the line and the fitting but I am still going to see if I can figure out a better way to run the fuel line.

I slid the Filter/Regulator over about 2" and it looks much better. Not sure if this is going to be the final location but I may move it over a little be more.

So I have a couple choices in front of me and they both involve spending more money.

Choice #1 - Have High Speed Welding make me two new Tailpipes.

Choice # 2 - Order the Holley DSE Clipped Corner Fuel Tank

Calling it a night and going into the house and to watch Kindig It Design on Motor-Trend TV

      Hi Wayne,

Thank you for sharing the picture of your tank as I was curious how it would look and it looks awesome. Lucky for me Summit said they would take it back with a slight restocking charge (i've had it like 6 months) and send me a new tank. So I offered it to Ron and he said he wanted it for his car so the tank went to Ron and I had a new clipped corner tank shipped to me.

After seeing how nice your tank turned out being powder coated I will be dropping mine off at Pro-Tek Powder Coating.

Holley EFI Plumbing Final Location (( 10-18-20 ))

I am enjoying my time off of work and spending time with my girls. My goal is to finally get this thread all caught up.

The final location of the Filter/Regulator has been decided so I will have four holes to fill in the floor. Insert sad face

While I am here I am going to fix a couple things. The exhaust was rubbing on the passenger side tailpipe and th good news is it a simple fix and all I need to do is flip the bracket and change the angle of the bracket.

My Grandfather gave me his fathers vice when I was a youngster and I am happy to say it still works great and I love having it in my garage on my rolling cart.

I clamped the bracket in the vise and gently tapped till it was aiming the other direction. I like using the dead blow hammer as it doesn't damage the bracket and you don't have to hit it as hard as a regular hammer.

Worked out perfect and now all I have to do is have it powder coated.

I am also happy with the new location as it moves the fuel line a good distance away from the tailpipes.

I probably should have put the universal joints in while it was taped up.

2020 10-19 Holley Clipped Corner Tank

So I pulled the trigger and ordered the Holley Clipped Corner tanks and it was the right decision. It has solved my clearance issue with the tailpipe which will also allow me to have extra room if I ever decided to install wider tires on the rear and if I do will at least have the room to make new tailpipes.

You can see how much deeper the new tank is by looking at the pump assembly.

Preparing for the Power Tour - Fuel Pump Access Door (( 10-21-20 ))

I know this is overkill but I really don't want to ever have to drop the tank when it has fuel in it.

One of the benefits of the blue tape is I can write notes right on the tank.

      Talk about a tight fit.

I needed to open these up just a little bit so I could slide them in place.

So this is how I tightened them back up. Anyone do this a different way as I would love to know if there is a better way.

I put tape on the straps temporarily and once the tank is in for the final time I will install the rubber strips.

Had to call the wife out to help me put the tank in for the first time. Once the straps are bent I can easily remove and install the tank by myself.

Tank is in and it looks so much better.

I had to shorten the lines just a little bit and I was even smart enough to lay the wiring on the top of the tank. This will allow me to terminate the wire at the sending unit and the fuel pump. I will also need to run ground wire which I forgot to install.

I quickly installed the tailpipes just to see how much of a difference the new tank would make.

Planning the Atomic 4L60E Transmission Coolant Lines (( 10-24-20 ))

Time to start planning the soft lines for the transmission.

I will need to order a few more fitting from Summit so I run soft lines from the transmission to the hard lines under the core support.

Having soft lines at the transmission will make it easier to remove the trans and i won't have to worry about trying to figure out how I would get a wrench on the fittings if i did a hard line.

Did I mention I have some of the best kids a father could ask for. Not only did my daughter go pick up lunch she stayed out in the garage and had lunch with me and we talked about her day.

Tanks Ink Fuel Pump Access Door Install (( 10-24-20 ))

In order for me to be able to install the access door I am going to have to remove all of the parts in the trunk. The good news is most of the parts have already left the trunk and have been installed on the car. So I am feeling like the car is getting closer to getting back together.

In order for the panel to follow the shape of the floor I slid the panel up into the curve and slowly pushed it into shape.
