Hellraiser - '69 Mustang Fastback in the UK

I've been lurking here a while and thought it about time to introduce 'Hellraiser' properly to you all. It's already been years in the saving, planning, researching and sourcing. But now I'm finally kicking off my project this month. So far, I have a '69 Mach 1 'field find'. It's pretty solid but not in great condition, as you'd expect really.... I've also got hold of a Coyote crate engine and T56 gearbox. Today I bought a take-off IRS assembly from the S550 Mustang on eBay. That's coming from Michigan and should arrive end of month.

Here is where I'm heading. I've been waiting so long, I've had time to create all kinds of visions in 3D render. Here's a couple of 'em:

      Wish me luck...

I wish! But 40K in Euros and shipping the car to the Netherlands is probably a bit of a budget stretch... No, I've ben looking at Maier Racing's flares. Anyone here have any experience with these guys?

Well not much of an update, but I have the IRS assembly! Arrived yesterday. Now the serious head scratching begins...

Well some progress made. We've set the car on blocks at the ride height and taken datum points to work out where everything sits. The Rear IRS is going to fit!

      suscribing !!

what kind of front suspension ?

wouldn't it be easier to start with new rear rails than the drag set up ? just asking as I will start a new project next year and wondering if I'll go the corvette suspension or s550 !! but I will have build a full frame under my 70 mach roof !!! lol

However long you think your project will take, double it and you might be halfway right.

Hello Frenchie! Nice to meet another European here.

Front suspension is going to be Mac Struts to S550 lower arms. Still working it out to be honest. Stay tuned...

And it may be easier, but I'm not sure it would be, to start with new rails, but it wouldn't be cheaper. I'm saving every penny I can here...

Love the project! Your renderings are very close to what I have in mind for my '69. I'm wondering if you can post some pictures of how the back half frame rails are mounted in your car. I think I have sorted out how to mount the front frame section for my car, but am still trying to figure out the rear section. I'll be using a 4 link rear frame similar to what your car has; I'll be using an 8.8 with a torque arm set up instead of the IRS (but this is certainly giving me ideas). Looks like the IRS cradle will go in pretty smoothly the way you are doing it.

Best of luck and I'll be watching this one!
