Oh..Ok. I used the spiral welded stuff for a corprate sponsored school project once. It was supplied by the company and was supposed to be more precision and stronger than DOM and obviously more expensive!

      Thanks for looking

Here we are welding it in place.
Hard to tell in the pictures, but we were able to get the main hoop to where there is only about 1" between it and the roof skin at the center and the side bars above the door are basically sitting on the top of the upper door frame box. All to keep the cage as far away from whoever drives/rides.

Hey Dave, looks like your off to an awesome start. I love race inspired cars. Just a heads up, NASA and SCCA except cages made of 1 3/4" DOM with .120 wall thickness.

Ha thank you David. And yes I have been driving quite hard. A little too hard even maybe. LOL

I still think about that orange Camaro you had once in awhile. The timing just wasn't right on it. I hope to see the finished product of that thing once the buyer completes it.

      Not a problem Phillip
We have set the motor way back in the car,
I want to say 8" from factory, an we are running the 2001 vette bat wing oil pan so i thought that we could use the vette headers as well,
Just cut the 3" collector tubes off swap sides an shorten up a little weld them back together an we have headers. once we got the headers fitted in the chassis we saw that we were really close to the pass. side upper control arm. Not enough room to do the alignment we are wanting
So to fix that problem we had to grind the weld of the 1st tube on the pass side of the motor an push the tube thur the flange about 3/4'' grind off the extra tube and weld it back in place an now we have headers
We had a set of used 1 5/8'' headers to mock up to see if this would work, and i knew that the 1 7/8'' would be a little different.
I hope that made sense I dont have pics yet but we will take some of the finial product.
      Thanks for looking

We will be using Spohn Del-sphere joints to make the control arms and the pan hard bar with. here is a link http://www.spohn.net/shop/Del-Sphere-Pivot-Joints/
John recommended these from his use on II Much

      Hi Michael
Wish i could have been there too!
This car to me is just to have fun with
No more worrying about getting business with it or any other,
I will still be building cars, as a hobbie an not as a carer.

Tell the wife an family we said hello hope all is going well. It's always good to see you guys!
      Thanks

i was planing on using the C5 or C6 headers as well. the shop i'm getting them from is also going to let me try the new camaro headers to see if they fit better. isn't it nice to set the engine back so far and still be able to use off the shelf stuff with little mods?

Yes sir thats what iam talking about! we tryed f-body an gto headers but they hung down to low an would take to much to make work the corvette headers were the ticket.
I have to thank Ron S for loaning me the f-body an gto headers to try, And Robert came up with a set of c-5 vette headers to try.

I have wanted to build this car for years now an although it is and is not a budget build or a mega dollar build alot of the parts were bought at very good prices an the C-4 suspension parts we had already laying around. (I would call a 3 pcs set of wheels at $750 a budget price and i bought 2 sets a couple years ago)
The idea of this car was to build as much of it ourself to save money an just to show that We could do it. I wanted a nice looking 69 camaro that we can beat the shiiiiiit out of for fun an not just taking a car to shows to promote the Shop.
      Thanks for looking
