Back again with something completely different...

Very different.. at least for me, 1990 K5 blazer.

It's been a pretty low buck build this time around, brought it home as a 1200 buck beater...

It's been torn down.. and being built to something that is worth owning. but yeah.. a short run down of the build... Obv. the biggest thing, that ugly front axle had to go, same with the boring 350 and the even more boring slushbox.

So.. got all my 2wd parts together.. built an el cheapo, vortec headed 350, good for a conservative 350hp.. brought my saginaw out of retirement to detroy another smallblock (this one will be number 3) 12 bolt welded up for the duties in the rear.. got some big ol' wheels for it, and probably some other things i'm forgetting atm.. , and im sitting here waiting for another load from summit to show up so i can get off to the alignment shop.. couple pics for the adhd like me..

oh yeah.. 5 dollar fans gotta love em, gotta love em more that they move more air then my flexalites did.. and those were 100 times more expensive..

      later!

Nice, I have a soft spot for the last couple years of the K5s with the newer body style. I was looking at them at the same time I got my 88 S10 Blazer and decided I didn't need the space or want the weight. Definitely subscribed, can't wait to see the results of your hard work. What suspension are you going to run up front?

mostly stuff out of my c10, has spindles and springs, I'd love to get a drop member or something.. with coil overs..

imo there's a bunch of other crap to tackle before a change out the suspension.. i think it would just be a waste at this point.

it was 4wd, it's 1990, and they stopped making the 2wd full size in 82.. kinda hard to find a 2wd up here in decent shape and for cheap.. where as the 4wd are plentiful... and cheap.

      thanks guys.

      ?

Are you going to keep it four wheel drive or just gut the front suspension? I think you sould swap in a IFS front axle and slam the thing.

gut it... tbh.. i'm not a fan at all of 4wd.. maybe an awd system with like a 20/80 split.. I think im more of a steer with the throttle kind of guy..

anyways, checked the ride height.. not to shabby i'm thinking.

the back is still a few inches in the air... but that pic it could of still come down a couple inches to the actual ride height..

once the back end come down the front should come up a bit, the fender lips are 27.5" from the ground.. front and back, at ride height.
