IMHO, the late second gens look even better than the early second gens.

Wow. Looks like Mary isn't content to kick almost everybody's butt anymore.
Weight is such a huge factor in autocross I don't know how you couldn't go with an LS. Just look at all those damn Miatas and the times they run.
Will the LS engine affect the class you can run in? Is that the reason for keeping the leaf springs?
Can't wait to see what it will do now.
BTW, thanks for the stickers. My car feels quicker already.

Going with orange eh? Did you consider Sunset Orange Metallic (as seen on 4th gen Camaros) or the later Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic (as seen on C6 'vettes)?

      Tear Down!

Well! Mary left about 30 minutes ago back to Salinas & this is where we are @ with the disassembly.. We just got to unbolt the rear suspension & sub-frame. The motor & trans will be removed on Monday when we get it in position as far back & low as posible to fabricate chassis motor mounts & modify the trans support..

Mary has been @ it for the last three days on the diassembly.. She knows her car stuff!! I have learned more about suspension & set ups in the last three days.. Great lady to work with..

Mary just making a mess around the shop!

I would never attempt to remove Dynamat

Oh, and I would like to give a special mention about how good the Edelbrock LS-swap headers fit.. About as close to perfect as possible.

Just curious if there is room for the z-bar/mechanical clutch with those headers? Trying to figure out how many options are out there or if hydraulic is a must.

I agree on the headers. They are hilariously easy to install too.

I wish Edelbrock would offer them in stainless and offer the collector flanges as a separate item. They are really nice.

Mary just wondering if I can get a piece of you car with a signature to put on my wall would settle for a sticker. My daughter(14) has seen you drive a couple of time and loves the fact you can spank any guy out their. We were at the GG OC and she wanted a ride but you were taking pictures.( maybe next time)

Absolutely and I'll find something cool that won't be needed. PM me your mailing address. You'll have stickers coming too!! We will get your daughter a ride next year for sure. If she gets her permit, I'll ride shotgun.

      Cheers,

Very nice setup. That LS looks sweet! Mary, I have never met you but I may have a car for your to put through the paces if you are interested. It is a fairly radical 2nd gen build going on with a build thread here. I decided to do something different just because I hadn't seen another like it yet. I still won't be able to drive it worth a hoot until I get some lessons but at least it will look cool. LOL
It is way more than I will be able to handle so I'd like to see what some experts can do with it and then have that as my goal.

My car is in the shop waiting on the suspension stuff so any second gen secrets you guys come across in your build and you want to share... feel free to let me know! :-)

Forgot to add... Anyone here every move a motor back in a second gen? Mine is already getting major surgery so that is on the table for consideration. I have not run across one thus far but would be interested in hearing about it if someone has.

I took a look @ this this morning.. Not going to be easy running a z-bar without fabricating some custom brackets to get it to work.. Motor does not have easy acess to mount the z-bar.. you can go off the bell housing.. Headers are tight & don't give much room..

I would stick with hydraulic.. Much easier..
